The middle of the back four need significant improving. Half of that will be solved once Vermaelen comes back. The goalkeeper will probably be forever a mystery for Wenger. Unless Szczesny somehow keeps the No. 1 spot.

We want to keep Given as we need a World Class stopper incase Joe gets an injury or suspension etc.
Arsenal could do with one more defensive midfielder to give Song competition as I see Diaby as more of an attacking midfielder.
Arsenal didn't have a full strength team against Utd about 3 important players missing (1 being a permenant number 1 keeper) as well as countless superstars who were on the bench.
You've got to take your hat off to Arsenal, they haven't had a a number 1 umm number 1 for a few seasons while the other top teams have (Utd - Van Der Sar, Chelsea - Cech, Spurs - Gomez, Liverpool - Reina) I could go through the league naming teams and their number 1 goalies but I wont.
What I'm saying is Arsenal have been in the top 4 without even having a regular keeper which in itself is quite impressive. -

Good point. The fact that Arsenal don't have a lauded over GK or stellar back four, they are still always in contention year in and year out.
Did I pick the perfect season to start following the EPL? The league is wide open. The emergence of Tottenham. The inspiring run of Blackpool. Jostling at the top between Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United. Manchester City playing tough. Newcastle showing they belong back. Truly exciting!

Posts: 372Posted 15 years ago #it's wide open at the moment so you couldn't have picked a better one. Although last season was also pretty good and a lot closer then previous seasons have been. Plus the end of the season was really good to us as we had to play Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City one after the other. Even now I still can't believe we manage to get 9 pts out of the 4 games.
