So I know that a few years ago that Question was re-pressed on (OM?) and was released with an all black, non-picture sleeve.
Is this the only other pressing of Question aside from the original? Is the OP the only one with the picture sleeve?
Would anyone else besides Thes or KK know this (since they're on tour and probably can't respond and I got too drunk at the show to want to try and bother Thes about it).

The original pressing has an hall black cover as well. i've got it in my crates and wanted to get the repress
from OM as it was first advertised with the nice picture cover.
so as far as i know there's no vinyl pressing at all with a picture cover...
sad, because the cd has not only the cover but also a nice booklet with more pictures in it.

yo. i have a pressing with the picture cover on it. it was a second hand copy. i copped it a month or so ago at the turntable lab in NYC. its dope

wax - interesting, because i am looking at a sealed copy right now with picture sleeve that seems to have @2000 at the bottom.

All sides have MPX C (copyright)
I actually bought this (along with the Cat 12") at Fat Beats LA. I was boarding a plane to NYC and was stood in line with 3 guys holding record crates. I also had a crate and was checking these 3 out trying to work out who they were. Turned out is was PUTS and Jazmac (think they were heading out to the UK). Was going to get them to sign the records (they were on the same flight), but figured that was pretty lame, so left it. Wish I had!
I don't know of an OG pressing with a non PC sleeve. Possibly a promo?

Wrote that badly, Should have stated that I bought it in the week/month it came out and had the record with me when I was on the plane. It was the silhouette of Double K on the sleeve that made me recognise PUTS!

that's dope Fecam! I remember one time Thes said back in like 2000 when they were on tour he had a load of American Men Vol 1 CDs that were over the limit to take onto the plane, so he just sold em all to the guy behind him in the queue who happened to own a record shop... I later found said dude co-incidentally and he still had a stash of about 30 copies! Guessing that wasn't you tho!

so my mom is so amazing that she actually grabbed what is supposed to be a sealed OP (picture sleeve) for me for christmas! Theres obviously some confusion ID'ing the OP. It's sealed still and I definitely didn't want to open it, but it sounds like that might be the only way to correctly ID it?
I hit up The-S but haven't heard back (definitely sure they have more important sh!t to do than answer our questions). I will bring it to the costa mesa show and see if they can ID it live and give some definitive answers on the pressings of this. Will report back when I hear details!

thats what this thread is about. No one seems to be 100% sure what the Original pressng looks like exactly or how to ID it. Well, i guess people seem to be sure, but everyone seems to have a different answer which seems to me like no one is totally sure what pressing is what!

Om re-pressed most of the singles etc a year or two back. I have no idea how you would tell the difference between an OG and repress, apart from the condition due to age. But if they are both sealed ... unless the barcode is slightly different?

Thought I'd weigh in on this as I too own a pressing of the album with the picture sleeve.
I must admit however that I initially thought this thread might be about 'The Next Step' but I'll get into that later on...
As far as I've been able to determine there are in fact two pressings of the album out there which BOTH have the picture sleeves. The sole catalog # (OM 036 VLP) for the release listed on Discogs matches the runout grooves posted by Fecam (my copy has these also)

hhv.de has a 2nd hand original pressing as well as a sealed limited ed. repress for sale which look identical (theres a good chance however that they might also have confused pressings).
Unless anyone can confirm buying a sealed copy of 'Question' with the black plain sleeves I'm with Fecam in assuming copies lacking the picture sleeve were promos or second hand copies with lost covers...
As I pointed out above at first I thought this topic was probably about 'The Next Step' as OM advertised a repress of the P's first album including a full picture sleeve (which the OG pressing did not have) a year or two ago. To my knowledge it was never released (at least the picture sleeve was not). I'm assuming this was what waxcollector meant also:

Hope that didn't come out too confusing and helps you to figure this out...
Oh, and YoYoPo, I've been told none of the reissued 12"es came with picture sleeves so OG's should be easy to spot on that front.

Well I think my copy is one of the original pressings. It has the same runout grooves mentioned above but, like waxcollector's, has a black sleeve. So, yes, possibly a promo or a re-covered original (although my copy still has the plastic wrap around it. Unfortunately I can't remember if it was sealed or not when I got it.
I always assumed there were a few pressings of the original, some with the picture sleeve, some without - which seemed consistent to me as all the previous P releases up until Question have plain black sleeves (some with a sticker on top)...

If you look at those two, there is a minor difference. On the original press you can see the bottom of the cover, where the text is, is actually a different tone of black than the picture above. It wasn't matched I guess when they created the artwork. You can see the same thing on The Cat CD/12" cover. I think the vinyl reissue has been touched-up and is a continuous tone (like the CD cover).

Good eye spotting that 'discoloration' on the covers, YoYoPo. That might in fact be a way to distinguish between OG and reprint.
As for the plain black sleeves: Whenever possible I try to grab full picture sleeves or at least sticker covers (those can be tricky to find depending on whether the sticker is on the acual cover or the shrink wrapping). One of the reasons I love records is that they're great display items. In addition to the forward facing records on my large shelf I have records hanging on the wall in several rooms
