Hey my fellow P friends :)
I am a volunteer for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and last night I went to their open house for the Sacramento chapter, to meet the board of directors and to learn more about how I can be involved.
The reason this hits home is because I lost my father and my good friend to suicide, so when I stumbled across this organization, I became so excited because it was something I could relate to, and in return, I can help others.
Well during this meeting, This man came up and spoke about his daughter who he lost to suicide when she was my age. very sad. well he told us about this bill he is still trying to pass, which would make it illegal for people on the internet to help in assisting suicide (makes me sick).
The reason I am making this thread, is in hopes that when you guys have time, you could read this story. It is absolutely tragic and I feel like it will help bring awareness to suicide and depression.
All people really want sometimes is someone to talk to. Even when your friends or someone you know is acting "emo" if you will, or sad, please dont be quick to disregard it or think they are being over dramatic, because sometimes people just want someone to relate to them and talk them out of something.. I honestly couldn't believe these people that helped her ultimately, in taking her own life.
Also, if you have ever lost someone to suicide, PLEASE check out the organization. Its amazing and I am so thankful I found it because it is also helping me in return.
