I am a happy City fan... I have my Tevez shirt on now haha.Every team in the the top 4 has spent ridiculous amounts of money, whether over 20 years or 2 years.
Considering we have been up and down the leagues and at one point we were in the third tier of English Football.
So I am very happy with us getting into the qualification stages of the Champions League.Half the people say "City have brought their way into the Champions League" and the rest say "with the amount they've spent they should have won the league".
So I just find this funny.
We may have played defensively but our defence needed improving.
Does anyone remember Chelsea under Mourinho?!
So defensive, winning games 1-0 and winning the league spending millions of £s of Oil Money.
Are other fans just going to bash teams with money until their team gets money?We are building a new team and it takes time but I am happy with the progress.
Now we need to win the FA Cup on Saturday and really gel the team.

You've got to question the drive and desire of millionaire football players.
For some it'll be "just a job".I think we all agree there is too much money in football... but there is always Sunday League Football!
Is it time for an overhaul of FIFA or even a new organisation?

Manchester can't offer the history of their city rivals or Liverpool in the UK, Real or Barca in Spain, Inter/AC/Juve in Italy etc. The weather up North is sh!t. Culturally, most South Americans don't settle well in the UK, let alone the North of England.
If you're at the top of your game, you'd want to play for any of those teams I just mentioned ahead of City, to name a few. if you had any real footballing ambition (as opposed to monetary), you'd be wanting to play for the best team, and that wouldn't be City.
I sympathise with the City fans as, despite the jubilation of getting to the CL, it will always be tainted by the oil money - it's a bit like a hooker enjoying being taken to a top restaurant & paid well, but everyone knows what's happening isn't right!

Spurs had a great season, but ultimately failed due to the sideshow that was the Champions League. City had no distractions, a bucketload of money & did well over the 36 games (2 to play).
Arsenal, Utd & Chelsea are seasoned pro's at attacking both the CL & PL & don't tend to fall victim to the European hangover, where you lose the PL game that follows the European ties. Spurs failed, particularly when they weren't sure whether to prioritise Europe or domestic competitions.
The City situation is interesting. You've got a large group of multi-millionaire players who are not particularly incentivised & give the impression of not particularly caring if they play or not (with one or two exceptions). Tevez is fed up & wants out & some of the more ambitious players look like they've made the wrong decision (Milner, Johnson, Given etc). This will only get worse when the next wave of players is purchased in the summer & I can see wholesale changes ahead. Only problem is that due to the wages they receive (which are in no way linked to their ability), no other team can afford to pay them, so they could end up warming the bench indefinitely.
There is no doubt however that the Summer transfer market will be the biggest yet. The lure of the cash coupled with Champions League will attract a higher calibre of player & knowing that money is no object, a few teams will get massive cash injections..
As for Arsenal - with Liverpool investing in players during the summer & Wenger watching the pennies, their place in the top 4 may be threatened - although that has been said for the last few seasons! Arsenal run a tight ship - I have a few issues with their underhand transfer poaching, but I guess that's a case of 'don't hate the player, hate the game'!
Spurs are destined to be a top 6 club until the financial fair rules are enforced, which is very unlikely - I foresee a fictitious 'revenue stream' from advertising which will balance the books at Chelsea, Man Utd & City..

Now that Arsenal have their stadium debt under control/almost wiped out, I'm looking for them to "splash the cash" so to say and for Wenger to shore up the problem areas. I'd be happy with 3 or 4 key additions. A clinical striker, a defensive midfielder, a top notch center back and possibly a goalkeeper. I'd like to see some coaches added to basically fix the set pieces problems and build up that "finishing games" mentality.
I honestly don't understand Man City's purchasing strategy. They have logjams of players that aren't getting much playing time. Of course that strategy could be to stockpile now for the eventual CL play as well as extended runs in the domestic cups. Also, to buy now to then average out the next two years for the financial fair play rules.

Posts: 265Posted 15 years ago #Van der Vaart is a great player, but you need to build the team around him as he's something of a marauder & upsets the balance of the team. I'd prefer him to go than Modric who, in my opinion is the best player in the team.
Bale is only 21 & doesn't need to make the move just yet. Having said that, he's probably the most in-demand player in the world due to the fact that there aren't many left sided players with his attributes (if any). They're all on long term contracts in any case.
Agree that Arsenal need 3/4 players. Fabregas out would be a good idea - don't think his heart is in it & he'd fetch decent money. New striker, possible replacement for Fabregas, new keeper & a couple of new centre backs would just about do it. They'll cost money though - can't keep buying potential forever..

I am a Chelsea fan....and felt sick last week but i can't complain we have had some good times over the past few years. I personally think its been a very interesting season.....i am however scared of Man City now they are in the Champ League...i think that is going to be the key to unlocking league titles down the line. Roll on the transfer window.....Drogba out....anyone want him
