The other rant pages were getting sorta long, so I'm starting another one. I like the fact that there isn't a whole lot of unreasoning, angry discussion on the boards... We keep it pretty chill...
I was thinking the other day, and while I'm not a history major or economist, it SEEMS to me that we're sort of witnessing the rise of the corporation to the "next level", beyond the status of "country", even. I'm not trying to be dystopian or paranoid, but seriously... A bunch of the US national debt is owed to corporations, corporations are getting richer without having to hire anymore people, and the government takes all the blame for no job creation that should probably get assigned to the corps (don't get me wrong; the government can be blamed for a lot right now). The conservative factions in this country (even the poor ones) give them a free pass.
I don't know if comparable things are happening in the UK and elsewhere (I'd like to know, honestly), but it's just madness here. Am I alone on thinking that we may be witnessing the next stage of social development where money becomes even MORE of a power factor than it already is (is that even possible?), and CEOs hold more sway than presidents? Our current president can't sneeze without getting sh*t for it... He deserves to take some blame, but the dogpile is ridiculous.
I've always thought that things will pull through okay no matter what, and ive always been an optimist, but I'm getting freaked out lately. How are the rest of you holding up?
