Yeah, Sound Dust and Margerine Eclipse (even tho they lost Mary) were two DOPE albums... I really like Emperor Tomato Ketchup and Dots And Loops a lot though too... I'll have to check that solo joint.funkyhomosapien said:

For me Sound Dust was the best thing they ever did though. The record just sounds amazing. Laetita Sadier released a solo album a year ago which was great as well but quite different from the 'lab. Shame they've called it a day but they left so many great records I can't complain!I like how Thes played Stereolab and Average White Band for his newborn in the hospital in the crib with little tiny speakers... I wonder how his kid's musical abilities are progressing... Hope Thes got him enrolled in one of those drum/beat time classes...

Posts: 3,255Posted 14 years ago #So the first few seconds of Selfish Destruction sound like Led Zeppelin to me... Like a cross between the opening seconds of Black Dog and some other guitar/organ from Zep... Am I the only one who's feeling this? Wish I knew where that narration was from...

Posts: 584Posted 14 years ago #Ha ha how odd just a min ago (while currently listening to Highlighter...again) i noted the the same thing about the Led Zep influence.....surely we must be onto something.
Not wanting to go too much into sampling of the Album, there are certianly a few i think i can pull out but as always there are some that my brain knows but i just can't put my finger on it.....to be honest to that it matters as the P always make them there own.
The whole weekend has been a Highlighter fest and just when i think i've over played it i just have to have one more listen....if i have said it once on the forum i will say it a thousand times....its a classic and my fave track just keeps changing.....its a beautiful thing.

Stereolab rocks man! Noice taste you have. I found Led Zeppelin's Third on original vinyl from a second hand shop few weeks ago along with few other good releases ( Johnny Winter, Ten Years After... )

Any chance the HHV t-shirt designs will be available on PL70? I purposefully bought the Carried Away Vinyl from HHV for the t-shirt (live in the states). LOL. shipping wasn't cheap either. I'm sure I'll be super stoked on the PL70 design you speak of, but I'd love to get an HHV design too. It kinda seems like the "part II" t-shirt as it's got the outline design similar to the Carried Away shirt they had. I've seen the mike and chris Highlighter cartoon heads as well. I think that those would be a pretty sweet shirt. however, as I ordered the vinyl and t-shirt through PL70, i don't think I'll be able to justify a double purchase of the album, just for the extras/freebies. And I still gotta save that green for the thes one anthology crate (crossing my fingers for that one)

They're a very well-run business and are taking on a lot of copies of the new album. We still prefer to sell direct wherever possible, but they're a great site - as you may remember, the Acid Raindrops live 7-inch was actually pressed by HHV as a collaboration.

Yeah man they have good reputation. No thievery involved in HHV! I have ordered loads of vinyls from there. Thinking of buying the CD bundle to get the differently designed P-shirt. So if PL70 also has those ones available through HHV, would be cool to buy only the grey shirt straight from you!
