I really wasn't sure about quite a bit of Thes' "Time Bandit" verse, so I didn't post it up and tried to come back to it after transcribing "Foolish People" (which I feel really good about), and when that didn't work, I did "Ascension To Nowhere" too (which I feel okay about, except for four words in PUTS' verses and one line in the sample)... and I still couldn't get Thes' "Time Bandit" verses... if you guys know, post up... thanks!

Now to start on the "Lighter" side...

Damn man..nice work again! Cant really figure out those you have marked in grey. Hard ones. Concerning the talk over how the P has changed their sound. I'm a huge fan of their older material but I also like newer. I always try to listen each album in its context and as an individual, not reflecting too much on the other albums since every album are good in their own context/style/time. I think in this way it is way more easier to listen a huge variety of music. You know what I'm trying to say here! It could be a tad bit boring if P would still rap about same things in the same way they rapped in Next Step. Like in the Left Foot, Right Foot.. "You gotta go forward!"

On a side note..fellas talkin' about Panacea..the beginning of the Highlighter reminds me of the beginning of the Thinking Back, Looking Forward. Peace.

Oh and resampled ( compressed) the beginning of Selfish Destruction, the fella started to sound way more human but I cant really get him to my mind..

Nicely done as always, thanks. On the Ascension to Nowhere lyrics, I have a correction (I think???) for the sample portion. They're taken from the Instagram description of the track at http://instagr.am/p/N-LbB/

Neutrino... I think the points you made are all true but as everyone has said an opinion is just that. You can prefer the older stuff, it's your choice! I know how you feel as there have been artists who I've loved who have then changed their style and I just wasn't along for the ride anymore. It's sad but it happens. I think if PUTS stayed rapping about the same stuff 8 albums deep you may have been so bored you wouldn't even bother checking Highlighter out though. Think how much you've probably changed over the last 10 years? So here's to progress!

Also, you might find yourself coming back to later PUTS albums. I have mentioned that Fun DMC and Carried Away didn't resonate with me as much as earlier albums but purely because I think some of the themes discussed were not relevant to me at the time. Now with the newest album I think we're back on the same page. Amen.

I just wanted to put (no pun intended) my own thoughts down followng on from Neutrino post. I think its a classic case of evolution over revolution. I for one am not the same person i was when Next Step first came out, i of course still retain some of what i was back then but in other ways i have grown as a person. I think this is what happens to all artists if there body of work is stretched over such a long period as PUTS is. Leading up to the release of Highlighter i had all the PUTS older albums on rotation and there is a evolution of there sounds spanning each one but at there essence there is a sound that is constant through all of them. I love Highlighter and at my age (34) it speaks to me on the levels i am at now whereas when Next Step and the albums after were released they spoke to at the time they came out. I am not trying to be clever here i am just trying to express my own personal view on the music. I am sure everyone on this forum have good and bad memories that relate to previoius PUTS release which when you hear those albums envoke these memories and stir up the feelings of that time. I am also sure that we will all create those memories with Highlighter (i think i already have) and the feelings that will come from this will enhance the album for us in our own personal way in the future. So as a new release and just looking at it as a clean slate Highlighter for me is a 4.5/5 (because it is dope) but as it moves forward with me in my life i am sure the memories it creates will make it a 5/5. So in closing i think Highlighter holds the essence of what makes PUTS great but also adds to this with an evolved sound.

Good to see people on here actually posting lyrics for songs (older material as well as Highlighter), as all the other sites on the web pretend to have some P lyrics, you click on the link and its like "Would you like to post lyrics? No one has posted any yet". There more than handful of lyrics I had no idea on so its really great to finally figure them out. Thanks much. Cheers-dj

But wondering something about the beat in the Highlighter #1 You Tube vid. Did I miss it somewhere on the album or is this a remix or unreleased track?

As long as the P make music, I'll be a fan.

I can't wait to listen to this, downloading as I type. The PUTS are the one act who I ALWAYS buy their albums with no checking reviews or streaming in advance, and they never let me down.

BTW, are the guys on Twitter at all? Couldn't find a handle for them.

Really refreshing to see people trying to move the music industry forwards rather than hold the world back.

All been a bit heavy today on the boards...lets just enjoy the music.

Not sure how anybody can really review it until it's been listened to on it's true form...the delight that is wax.
Big ups to Twelve for holding out...that must take some serious will power?

My ear canals were killing me last Saturday. I must have had the volume up too high on Thursday night and Friday all day on my headphones. Actually took pain medicine and went to sleep early that Saturday to recover. However, last Thursday night was a blast on here. I genuinely felt that I was partying on here.

So far, my favorite tunes on the album are: Selfish Destruction, The Second Track, Foolish People, and Uprock Boogie.

Read the Neutrino post, and I've gotta say that I appreciate his perspective, coming from another fellow thirtysomething-year-old. Not meaning I agree with everything that was said, but I did like that he shared how he felt at the moment.

Gotta go, I'm late for school.

That song is not on the album, but it will be coming out soon.

That song is not on the album, but it will be coming out soon.

What about the 2nd video - that piano track is dope as hell!
