Hi everyone - it's with a big gulp in my throat that I'm writing this message to inform all of you that Highlighter has been delayed until this coming Thursday at midnight PST.
Over the past few weeks, a number of things have happened that have been outside of our control, from studio issues that forced Thes to toss four 15 hour days of mixing out the window to the hurdles of releasing an album and doing it right, independently.
All of this forced us to scramble as Thes worked day and night mixing and mastering the album over the past week. The two of us got back at 2:30 AM last night from driving across LA to another studio to hear different versions of the final master, and didn't feel like it sounded as good as it could and should.
So we were faced with a choice - send out the album today knowing that with just a few days more for mastering, it could have sounded better, or push back the album until Thursday and get it right. We think you deserve perfection, the best sounding album possible, and as frustrating as it is to wait a few more days, the extra time will make a huge difference.
As a music fan, I realize how frustrating this is. I know how mysterious this all must appear to be, especially given that no one has heard anything off the album yet. Having spent the past year building PL70 only to arrive at this point, Thes and I both feel guilty about the first PL70 release being delayed. Your support is what makes all of this possible, and I know we're asking for a great deal of goodwill and understanding here. The record is finished. In my humble opinion it's incredible and my favorite PUTS record to-date. We just need these extra few days to make sure it sounds just as good in your car and on your headphones as it does in the studio.
I wish I had time to write more here, but we've gotta keep working. I trust all of you on the forum and the PUTS Army to have our backs.
If you have any questions regarding the delay, the pre-order, or anything whatsoever, please feel free to email us at info@pl70.net.
Sincerely,
Brendan Irvine-Broque
