Posts: 3,255Posted 14 years ago #D*mn, records get no respect in the mail sometimes... my copy of the deluxe "In Rainbows" (Radiohead) package looked like someone had driven over it a few times.
Thankfully, all my PUTS LPs have been safe so far... but I'm sorry man, that really sucks! Glad Thes could work that out for you, and even bust out the signed, low-numbered replacement... what ____/2000 number did you get from him?

So the idea of this is to give something back to PUTS, Thes etc for all the they give us, which is a nice idea and if i ever saw them live again i'd be well up for buying them a drink....however, what we give back on a regular basis is the money we spend on PL70 and all of there releases. Surely that is enough....isn't it??
Don't get me wrong, its a nice idea and kudos to Stone man for doing it but come on chaps they give us great music and we pay for it.....don't we.....just a thought.

You won't catch sh*t from me, homie. I understand what you're saying. I think I've just got a guilt complex from all the PUTS I downloaded back in the day, haha.
The other part of it for me is that I'm one of those crazy altruists (don't give me none of that Ayn Rand objectivist sh*t), so I just wanna buy everyone a beer... PUTS, my PUTS homies, my wife, my dog, my mailman, my boss, some stranger off the street... this round's on Sactown.

I do very much agree with you on that. Not trying to sound callous but I wasn't going to make a donation (as nice a gesture as it was), my donations have been through the releases, merchandise and live shows I've spent money on in the past - and fully intend to spend my money on in the future.MrQc said:

That said, Thes did personally lose out by sending me the new copy. I didn't want to keep the warped copy as I have absolutely no use for it but didn't want to destroy it so I thought someone may want it and I put it on eBay. In my mind, the right thing to do at this point was to offer to split the money, as I'd seen that post about donations it seemed fitting.
At the end of the day it got Reddited and 211 people saw the auction so maybe it will help spread the word of People Under The Stairs, that I'm happy to do.
However, unfortunately it only sold for 99 cents so this has all been a bit redundant. I even think I'm losing money what with all the PayPal/eBay fees, postage etc. I'm going to email Thes now and tell him he owes me hahaha

But seriously, what if a real P fan would have bid a huge amount of money on it, expecting the dough to go to the P?
I would love to read the email you get from Thes after you have the audacity to tell him that he owes you. Jokes are fun and all, that is when they are funny, but if I was Thes and went out of my pocket to get you a replacement LP... Let's just say that I'd be shaking my head.
Not trying to be a dick here Stone Man, just trying to wrap my head around it is all.

i don't see what all the jibber jabber in this thread has to do with somebody havin fun tryin to make a buck selling a broken record on ebay.
i'm going to enjoy my broken record's room-altering presence whilst listening to my good one i preordered.

I misread this as you weren't going to give any of the proceeds from the auction to the P, which was what was advertised... Now I see you were referring to the whole PayPal Donation notion... my bad, goddamn internet...
