I just bought my ticket online!! Can't wait to go. Will post pics, videos, etc, when the show is done. Will be doing a fair amount of documenting the occasion, so I will try to edit that into something watchable. Have no idea about the venue as it seems to be a lawn where people chill and watch the show. I'm sure the P will have everybody on their feet. I'll have to get Double K and Thes to sign a record or two.....too good an opportunity to pass up. April 4th....we're partying with People Under the Stairs!

This will be my third show, and I'm hoping Mike and Chris remember me! Met them in Providence, RI and Cambridge, MA a couple of years ago!

I should be bringing at least a few homies up from Memphis. I'm very interested to see what type of following they have in Tennessee as well. I realize that its not the place geographically with the most fans probably, I hope its crowded as f*** (I will be certain to show up early as hell. Like that morning and scope it out). I will certainly report back with a review/video/etc. Its going to be f***ing mental

Posts: 394Posted 14 years ago #Definitely dude. Thanks. Yea, thing is, the weather is supposed to be possibly bad tomorrow in Nashville, with rain somewhat likely and thunderstorms possible. Sucks. The venue says it will get cancelled if there are bad thunderstorms in the area (since its outside). I'm driving up from Memphis to Nashville tomorrow "irregardless"! I have good friends in the area so if nothing else, we will get a beer and a meal, and I will drive back (hopefully not though!). I plan on showing up to the venue even if it gets cancelled in hopes of meeting the fellas. They don't come to my area very often, gotta jump on the chance. BOOM

What sucks is that I'm sure Mike & Chris would push through the show if it wasn't at the venue's discretion. It's a prestigious university and must be highly regulated. With 80% chance of storms, you're talking about an 80% chance of the concert being cancelled. Damn it.
I will still drink my forty ounces and head down there though, probably around 3 just to get the scoop. It's all in the hands of mother nature now!

The P bring the thunder like Zeus, so cancelling the show is like dissing the gods.

Posts: 59Posted 14 years ago #It went really well! The skies cleared up, and the boys rocked out to a decent size college crowd out on the lawn. They did some Highlighter stuff, "Beer", "The Fun", "Montego Slay", "Acid Raindrops", "Empty Bottles of Water", "San Francisco Knights", among others!
I was sure to go up to Mike and Chris before they were about to go on, just to wish them a good show and tell them I admire them and for doing this benefit concert.
Saw them afterwards and gave them daps for a good show, and evidentally they went out to the bars, but I never saw them again. Great show.

Posts: 394Posted 14 years ago #Ok. So, I work nights, and I got off of work at 7am the day of the show, and left Memphis for Nashville around 10am. Made it to Nashville around 1-2pm. Went to the show which was done maybe 6:30-7pm (got to meet the guys and take a few pics!). We were about to try to and go find them drinking downtown, but we were all massively faded by that point. After some more drinking and smoking (and a calzone) I finally got some terrible awful "non-sleep" sleeping on my buddies floor (he's moving out in like 3 days; no furniture). The next morning, we went digging in a few spots in Nashville and I bought about 30 LPs, and then drove back this afternoon with terrible weather on the highways causing big slowdowns, with lots of time spent doing 15-20 mph in 2nd gear. Made it back home this evening, and had to turn around and go to work all night 11pm-7am. I am f***ing beat to say the least. But.... it was worth it.
The P were great and tons of fun live as I expected; I didn't count on a terrible sound guy almost bringing the show down several times. To their credit, they kept it light for the most part and didn't let it get to them really. Specifically, there were some issues at the beginning with the P's wireless mic's, specifically some high frequency interference related to the engineer not putting the wireless receivers on stage and instead putting them out at the front of house board (guy mixing in the crowd). Also, the guy didn't appear to have much experience mixing hip hop as they guys said "this is the level we'll be sending you" at the beginning of the show but the engineer still had the music elements running too hot and "clipping". Also, their microphone issues pretty much went away after switching to wired mic's. The engineer only had one wired mic, but the P had an extra wired mic as a just in case, and the production people got them a mic cable to use with it (basically dude wasn't prepared and didn't know what he was dealing with/doing). Thes was mad frustrated at certain points, accusing the sound guy of trying to sabotage him (which I tended to agree with), to which the sound guy flicked Thes off and yelled f*** you (seriously). I thought Thes was going to jump off the stage and run back to front of house and strangle the guy a few times. But like I said, for the most part, they did a really great job of just trying to roll with it and not get visibly/audibly frustrated. The show also seemed to be possibly a little abbreviated due to all this drama with the sound guy (not sure on that, just could tell they were not happy with that guy to say the least). Was really awesome to get to see them though. They really have gotten good with their stage show and are great at ad libbing and being spontaneous and in the moment (FUN DMC!). I took a fair amount of pictures and good bit of video with my iPhone 4, and I will be editing it into something soon (this weekend maybe), and I will post it on Youtube when its done, and link to it from here. Got this great part where Thes is ad libbing on "The Double K Show" and he says "No laptops....we got the...we got the James Brown biattch!" It was hilarious. The P were very approachable and cool (even after such a tough show experience). Got a few pics with both fellas. Got some props for a custom shirt I had made a while back that I wore. It was tight
