Whats up everyone on the forums i browse this site often but dnt post much. I was wondering what would yall say are good albums with nice guitar work im looking for differnt generes but im really into blues soul Jazz funk Reggae Brazillian music. Im asking because i recently picked up guitar a few months ago. I wanna be able to do this whole hip hop guitar thing and figured it would be good to study different styles and mix them together. I knew this would be a good place to ask since everyone is so knowledgeable about music here....anyways let me know yall Peace....(PS any acoustic albums would be great since thats what im playing on right now)

Posts: 49Posted 14 years ago #Check out Everlast. He combines country, hip hop and blues (among other things) to his music. His albums vary quite a lot, but the ones with the most acoustic guitar are White Trash Beautiful (2004) and Songs of the Ungrateful Living (2011). He surely isn't the most technical player, but I think you could get something out of his style.

Posts: 94Posted 14 years ago #Rodrigo y Gabriela is f***ing insane. I saw them perform in LA and was blown away. and I love that they are just metalheads at heart - their cover of Orion by Metallica is amazing. I love their flamenco/rock crossover sound, sh!t is just too good.

Then there's Joe Pass, George Benson, Trey Anastasio (from Phish), and Dick Dale for predominantly electric players....
Great acoustic stuff can be found in Django Reinhardt, Leo Kottke, Doc Watson, Chet Atkins, Tommy Emmanuel (particularly impressive, posted a video of him below), and even Keller Williams is great listening.
