The Doppelgangaz (East Coast duo. Lyrically remind me of DOOM, sonically remind me of a darker Jurassic 5. Check out HARK! and Lone Sharks.)
Jonwaye (Dope producer/MC. Check out Cassette 2 and Cassette 3 on Stones Throw)
Knxwledge (Very prolific producer. I can't recommend any certain release. They're all great, and he puts out so much material)
Mndsgn (Crazy good producer. Recently signed to Stones Throw. Check out Yawn Zen and Breatharian)

This summer my wife drove to a out of town shopping mall on a warm evening. As she sat at the traffic lights, windows down, music pumping, she noticed the noise to her left decreased. She looked over to see thee youths staring at her (she's not the kind youd identify as being a beatnuts fan). She reckons she felt intimidated. I told her they were probably drake fans who were wondering what she was listening to.Anyway, currently my DAP is rocking.....

as far as actual Beatnuts stories go, back in 2008 we went on what might have been our 3rd date:
a rap show up here in New Brunswick featuring... you guessed it, the Beatnuts. (my wife's bro's group First Words were opening)
no security, super chill venue and we all went out to the bar together with Juju & Psycho Les after the show.
good times. 3rd date! no wonder i married her, eh?

And I never understood why Funky DL never got much love. My favorite hip-hop song ever is" If I Had A Day To Live" (plus it's a Nujabes beat).
Curren$y is another one of my favorites. I love his rhymes even though he really only talks about weed, cars, money, and being cool. His beats are so unique though, and so chill. Never heard anyone like him. Plus most of his sh!t comes from mixtapes, which is awesome, and he puts out new stuff every couple of months. If you never have, check out Drive In Theater (he throws in a lot of awesome Godfather quotes), and Priest Andretti (with a lot of awesome Superfly quotes); not to mention his Pilot Talk albums, and the EP he did with Wiz Kalifa Live In Concert.
And then of course there's Mac Dre, possibly the greatest wordsmith of all-time. I could listen to him rap all day. Though he never really put out an entire album that I thought was great (Al Boo Boo is solid though), he's kinda hit to miss that way, but like Fishbone the hits are great f***ing hits! Try Mafioso, Not My Job, Cal Bear, Something You Should Know, Genie Of The Lamp, Bleezies N Heem, Grown sh!t, Al Boo Boo, Me Damac, U Beezy, Andre n Andre, and another of my top 5 favorite hip-hop songs Dreganomics.
Mac Dre is pretty big in the Bay Area but that's it, he gets some love in SoCal too I guess. Not sure why his sh!t never really got big anywhere else.
