   After an excursion and submersion in the Jamaican culture, Snoop D-O double Giz-e is now claiming to have undergone a musical/life "transformation" and is releasing a reggae album under the moniker Snoop Lion. The new album dubbed(pun intended) Reincarnated, will be Snoop's first full length Reggae album and is set to be released this year.

   Obviously I will not even dare to judge or scrutinize this album without few listens through, but the tidbits that I've heard so far aren't sh!tty to say the least. I am a little bias when it comes to the Reggae sound, but I am liking what I've heard. Positivity is always a step in the right direction in my book... So what do y'all Forum Cats think?

   I actually just caught this news article a little earlier today, and it completely blew my mind. I need to listen to it to really have an opinion, but if Snoop is really serious about it, then I wish him the best. I'm really particular about my reggae too, and I've never been down with what's considered "reggae" and "ska" in the 90's and 00's... but if it's in the vein of lee scratch perry, toots & the maytals, and peter tosh and all that, I'm down.

   Same here man, I loved Shabba Ranks back in the day though... But my passion for Reggae is based in the Roots!

   Lmao i love Snoops old ass. I mean whether its good or not, at least he established himself 20 years ago that people like him and others 90s classics can really get away with anything cause they already hit their prime and are so influential.

   Not to say this is garbage or anything, I haven't listened yet and i love reggae, but i just think its funny. Everyone turning into someone else now

   man I do need to be informed on some good reggae though.. cause really i am not too familiar with it, i like a lot of stuff but probably stuff yall dont like. But along the roots of bob marley, ziggy, damien etc.. what are some older reggae artists that are good?

   That should get you started off proper bip!

   I also like Toots and the Maytals, but I have to admit, Toots is a little more mainstream... sorta like Jimmy Cliff... BUT he was a big one.

   I'll probably get some disagreement on this, but early Eek-A-Mouse is great too... trippy, but great. Star Daily News and Gleaner, Noahs Ark, Little Virgin Girl, Ganga Smuggling, etc.

   Toots are nice, except for that dudes voice... kinda gets to me after a few songs! Another great "current" Roots artist I LOVE is 10 ft. Ganja Plant. Whenever I play or sing this song my dogs think that they get to go on a walk and get all excited, lol... And Jimmy Cliff is dope too!

   Yah you'll get some from me, Eek's not my favorite with his crazy-ass style, but at least you said "early" stuff... that said I still respect the dudes originality and style, diversity is what make the world so beautiful!

    Hahaha, agreed. I love how it's in "Mound House", Nevada. You can't make this stuff up.

    Bringing it back around to Snoop but keeping it in that frame of mind... anyone ever see Snoop's "doggystyle" video he made back in the day? ... D*mn. I caught a bit of it when I was younger, and... well... I have a feeling Snoop Lion won't be making this sort of thing.

    I do love reggae and snoop dogg (well, most of the earlystuff and increasingly less and less with his new stuff) but hey, reggae is all about good vibes so i wish him luck.

    On the subject of lee 'scratch' perry, i found this interview the other day and i was meaning to share for some time, what better place than this thread... i think he may be getting a little bit... spaced out??? in his old age... lol. Good read tho, just for the journalists response to it all... lol.
