Oddly enough, I was in a focus group discussing this very topic this week; personally, I think of a pub as a "Public Gathering Spot"; where cats from an area meet regularly to talk about everything and nothing inbetween. Bars are less social in essence, though this is probably a relative, really only serving the purpose of getting you drunk or getting you laid. That's just how I see it... -

Bars are more cocktails, girls and a bit of a rave. -
