Posted 20 years ago #It seems from some of the other posts that the real version has leaked. Man, we've all been waiting for another hit of musical dope for time but please people, avoid the temptation to download it.
It's so close, don't spoil it for yourself.
Remember how it feels when you're travelling home from the store with the fresh joint in your hand, you can't wait to tear off the cellophane and drop the needle or put it on the cd tray. Remember how it feels. Telling eveyrone not to disturb you for an hour or more. Turning off your mobile phone. Kicking back with a nice big doobie and listening to it all the way through, beginning to end, eagerly scanning through the liner notes as the crisp boom-bap pours out the speakers, as you grin at each nice rhyme, each on-point cut sending tingles down your spine and when you hear the way Thes flips a sample and the big grin turns into an audible 'Oh sh!t!!!!!!!!"
For me, this is why downloading will never suffice. A good album is an experience. We can all remember when we damn near starved at dinner times just to save up enough money to buy a record, and how good it felt when we actually got it. A feeling that we earned it. How many will be comfortable to sit and say 'I remember the first time I downloaded a stolen version of the Stepfather.'
The joy of buying music is in the feeling of actually having a product that someone has slaved over in your hand, an actual piece of art, the way the artist intended it to reach you, as a whole package, and the act of listening to it for that first time, with the release of a couple of years of feverishly pent up anticipation flowing out of you is a beautiful thing. A beautiful thing that should never be replaced.
We all need to get behind this album, spread the word, build the hype, buy it, get your friends to buy it, get to the shows, take you're friends to the shows! This is gonna be the soundtrack to a beautiful summer. It's gonna be the theme music that accompanies all our lives for the next year, an era-defining classic for you to look back on 2006 in ten years time and think "06...that was the year of the Stepfather."
Let's make this a movement and give PUTS the support they deserve, so they can comfortably support their families and go on making classic hip-hop music for us all to enjoy, forever.
And anyway...
They 'worked too hard for you to f***ing download it.'
Peace

I already thought of that! It may happen
I got some stickers from the Giant Panda crew but I don't have enough to distribute. Sign up for the Tres Records street team and you might get some ?!??! -
Posted 20 years ago #Nice one! I'll try the street team.
Hope this does turn into a real competition. Would be cool and with the worldwide heads on this sight we'd get some real nice photo's of the P word being spread! -
Posted 20 years ago #Let's do it!
I'm so up for this.
We did a similar thing over at http://www.blade691.com with stencils, was a right laugh. -

I read one interview where thes said this music should be recognized as a piece of art, and in doing so, would be hung and praised inside a museum. but since its not viewed as this, its easy for somone to just say, 'oh you just used splices and notes from another record to make a new one'
anyway just wanted to throw that out,
also, i think there is some thing already going for the best puts promo pic for winning extra goodies... -

Posted 20 years ago #damn. i couldn't of said it better myself. so its out there. what can i do. nothing.
just please get your friends to all help go out and support on April 18th... record label/promoters/ etc. all look at sales and unfortunately thats how it is determined whether or not we are still relevent. oof! -
Posted 20 years ago #i dunno if puts was EVER considered "relevant" by most. but who cares.. the real heads know whats up and will get the album either way. nothin to worry about.

thanks alibi. naw really though, OST sold a whole lot more than any of us thought it would, which enabled us to do a couple of fly tours. Promoters who don't generally listen to hip hop will look at soundscan and go "yeah, we'll book em I guess. they sold a few hundred units here in ... Winooski" -
Posted 20 years ago #and y'all don't forget to hit up your local listener supported radio stations come the 18th. i know for a fact that wmnf, kcrw and kexp play the puts when they're requested.
-
Posted 20 years ago #thank you
The first time listening to a new PUTS album is magic!
i'm waiting till the 20th... on the 101. Anyone else have plans to celebrate?
