I had a good couple of weeks, found a lot of good records, and in the past two weeks i've had some really good luck with people throwing out their record collections - the first one was a 100+ collection thrown away last week by a dude who recently retired. He was moving to a smaller place and had moved on to cds so didnt need his vinyl anymore. The only thing was he had already thrown it all away. So i started to climb into the skip, removing numerous pieces of furniture and carpet, reaching the bottom, and the records! Surprisingly the condition was great of almost all the records, apart from one Manfred Mann joint that was soaked. The records were mostly classical stuff, although he was a dedicated audiophile and so had lots of dope stereo test records, and rare master pressings of pink floyd's 'D.S.O.T.M' for example - also a lot of walter carlos and claude denjean MOOG stuff. I found a few joints that i can sell on to, which is never a bad thing. Oh and a couple Kraftwerk records in nice condition too...
THEN - this week i get a call from a local old peoples estate/home, saying that someone has moved in and doesnt have space for everything she had brought with her, and so the records were going to be thrown away - here i come to rescue the wax! Anyway, i go over there, expecting maybe some max bygraves and other cheesy crap, and when i look at the top of the pile i see that it doesnt look too promising - a cheesy spanish pop hits comp. I carry on thru the pile and im happy to find the MFP Jimi Hendrix record with 'Get out my life woman' on it - and i dont think its gonna get any better when the next 2 records are both Gilbert O'sullivan albums...THEN, to my surprise, there is a mint, still in shrink copy of Ray Bryant's ' Lonesome Traveler' , then another still in shrink copy of Gene Chandler's 'Situation' album. Next in the pile are some classical joints, then a DOPE record by a late 60's garage group called 'The Forum Quorum' on Decca - this sh!t is f***ing great, organ, flute, electric bouzouki!!!
Also a dope hawaiin joint with a nice slow burner joint on it, a spanish comp with a nice RAW drum break on it, a weird rock'n'roll 2 record set with raw instrumental versions of song by Chuck Berry, Little Richard etc, which is actually pretty funky in places. and The 'Double Barrel' album by Dave and Ansell Collins. Oh and Ron Carter 'anything goes' on KUDU.
So, all in all, a good couple of scores, and all for FREE!
here's some pics of all my recent finds, both the ones i just mentioned and other finds....

feel free to ask me about these joints if you're interested...
