It was The Cat.
The beat was so fat and mcs where dope i immediately took note of the group name and went out buying the cds.
Since then PUTS helped me a lot feeling good about life and music!
Peace! -
Posted 16 years ago #takin bong hits in my attic--homeboy put in question and i was super blazed. next day, i asked him to bring it over again--totally sober.

Posted 16 years ago #They had their track The Next Step Pt II on Tony Hawk's Underground. That was my favorite track on there. Ha, kept their name in the back of my head until I finally was able to find a place where I could get their music.

Posted 16 years ago #Back in 2000 I bought the QITFOA cd blindly before ever hearing the P, based on good things I had heard about them. So I heard that whole cd front to back for the 1st time hearing the P. Hook.Line.Sinker.

Yeah same here, i remember when i used to play online on Tony Hawks Underground. And like out of all the hip hop songs there i like People Under the Stairs: "The Next Step II" the most. I don't recall having a computer back then. but i asked my parents to go to a mom and pop music store and ask for people under the stairs and nothing. Later when i got NBA 2K5. i found a song from them. by then i bought all their albums up to O.S.T. I really liked that game i wish i could go back to it again. Glad the guys at activision (video game designers for that game at the time)did some research. -
Posted 16 years ago #My first time was playing Tony Hawk. I forget which one it is, but one of the Tony Hawk video games has "The Next Step II" in the soundtrack. I got that one song from I-Tunes and for a couple years that was the only one I had. But, this Spring, I looked them up on I-Tunes/E-Music and eventually downloaded all the albums from there. I am now on a mission to own every PUTS CD.
So basically, I have all of their music downloaded, and have Fun DMC and O.S.T. on disc. I plan on getting them all on disc/vinyl eventually. -

True, I don't remember the song but that show was dope and I remember Snoop made an appearance as the main guy's cousin, wasn't that the running back or something? -
Posted 16 years ago #Heard them on Pandora before it was blocked from Canada.
And on Underground.
Been a huge fan ever since. -
Posted 16 years ago #My first time would have been The Funky President. I didn't get full on hooked until my homey brought a few cds with him up to this lake house a bunch of us would rent out for a week every year. The lake was getting blown out by 11am every day so we had nothing to do all day but drink, smoke, throw bones or horse shoes and do some grilling. My buddy Mo (Jared over at The Village Recorder) was playing the P and I was like, "Dude, who the f*** is this? They are DOPE!" Been hooked ever since.
If you guys ever need a studio engineer (obviously you don't), he is a guy who firmly believes the PUTS is absolute genius and would probably kill to work with you guys. He would never come on here and say this but it's true. Closed mouth don't get fed right? He hooked me up with the PUTS sounds and I owe him every shout out I can put out for it. -

Posted 16 years ago #I will never forget it. I was in my local record shop, I had previously copped Deeper Concentration compilation on OM records and was casually scanning the cd's. Question in the form of an answer was there, I honestly had never heard of the PUTS but I saw they were on OM records and thought I would just take a chance. On the bus on the way home I had it on my cd walkman, it just blew my mind, so much so I missed my stop and just enjoyed the journey listening to it. Every track was a solid as the last with no filler but Electric Laddy was the standout for me, just sent shivers down my neck.
After that I just snapped up any PUTS records I could get my hands on. Long live the P. -

Well embarrassed myself there, what I actually meant was We'll be there, Electric Laddy was the skit before it.
Oh well, the sentiment still stands
