   where do u guys take your drums from? do you normally take it from vinyls, internet or do you have some drum kit cd's?? just wondering.

   i use a lot of breaks.
   i have my own drum kits (breaks chopped down to hits, and EQed and compressed and everything so i can just drop them in.)
   
   but more and more often i find myself layering breaks with some "library" or generic sounds (like triton drums). it just makes them sound more dynamic or "hit harder". i always found that i lose the character of the original drum breaks in eqing and compressing them to get them where i need/want them sonicaly. so i'll leave the break (or my own kit drums) in the middle of the mix and use generic drums to embelish the pattern.

   i plug into the universe and see what happens.....or go to a record store by some vinyls and rip a sh!t load of skins...whatever works for you really, i heard of things called "drum machines" they supposed to be pretty good but i don't think they'll catch on myself.
