Posts: 20Posted 18 years ago #I've been having some trouble with recording from my MPC 1000. i was recording from the MPC onto garage band and i found that it always took the bass out of the beat and the drums sound thin as hell. i got Audacity and tried that out, but the same thing happened. does anyone have any tips? thanks. -

Posts: 34Posted 18 years ago #what kind of speakers do you have going in to your mac ? that might be the reason... i use Garageband too and i usually have to beef up my drums by adding somekind of preset for the Master-track (master-track --> hiphop --> deep thump / hyped / hiphop basic... some of the jazz presets are quite nice too)... -

My MPC is hooked into a mixing board which then goes to an interface. My speakers are hooked into a stereo reciever which is connected by Aux to my interface. -

Thats one problem there. Unless you mixing board has API, Neve or SSL preamps, you just probably go straight into your interface. The less electronics and transformers your sound has to travel through, the better. I would suspect another culprit to be your interface. Lots of the digi LE interfaces will cause these issues, along with any sort of cheap interface. If you are using the built in computer input, that's your problem right there. You need to use decent converters.
Try recording the same sound directly into the 1000 (like I assume you normally do), and well as into your computers interface. Load both wav recordings onto the MPC and see if there is a difference. That might tell you something.
And sorry, but please don't go messing around with garageband presets. Seriously...
