Regular retail pricing should be slightly more affordable, but make no mistake - it'll still be pricey. Panasonic/Technics are well aware there's a demand for these decks and they'll charge accordingly.
If you're just looking for a pair of proper DJ decks I'd advise checking out other brands and/or looking for a pair of used/refurbished 1200s/1210s. -

been searching for another ever since, but have come up empty.
(actually found one for sale in Ontario, but dude won't ship it)
i've been looking for a pair of old 1200s for years now, but around here they get snatched up in a heartbeat. i also don't live in the city (any city) so i'm really just not around enough to catch them when they rarely do come up.
i have a pair of crappy Numark decks that i could use, but they need new carts + stylii and i hate to throw good $ after bad, even though i got those Numark decks for free, practically (they came free along with a mixer i bought from parents who were punishing their kid by taking away his DJ stuff... i LOL'd, yeah, i'm a horrible person)

Posts: 300Posted 10 years ago #Saw a Technic SL-1900 in a record store today for $200. Looked like it was in good condition and the store is definitely trustworthy. Shouldn't really be spending any money at the moment but don't want to pass up on a good deal, if in fact it is one.
You guys know a lot more about this stuff than I do, what do you think?

Posts: 577Posted 10 years ago #The direct drive motor in the 1900 is supposed to be solid, but I've heard the model frequently suffers from issues with the tonearm lift..?
In any case, DLT, be sure to familiarize yourself with the pros and cons of the player before you take a punt - i.e. see what google spits out in the way of user reviews on forums etc. and learn what (similar) decks in good working order go for on ebay/craigslist. Anyway, that's my 2 cents for the moment...

Yeah, I'd been trying to look up info but there's not much out there about the 1900 specifically. That's good to know about the motor, and I did see something about the tone arm problem. I was also a little worried because the 1900 has a lot of what I would think are unnecessary extras (like a multi-repeat function), which just makes for more things that can go wrong with it.

(the service manual can be found here.$200? i'd jump on that sh!t like white on rice.
a working one here for that price would be an instant purchase for me, but i am a pretty big Technics fan. -

I remember you complainin' aboat how difficult it was to get your hands on certain stuff anyway, plus your mail ordered records tend to take ages to arrive...(I'm pulling your leg obviously.)
