   I'm selling my 1000 and upgrading to the 2, but my friend was telling my you can't store very many samples on a single floppy. is this true? I've seen people like damu store full sequences on a floppy. whats the deaL?

   I can't actually help you answer your question, but I do have a comment and a new question.
   Have you thought about or do you have JJOS2? my understanding is that with the JJ system the mpc1000 works the same as the 2000 just smaller. I could be wrong on this, and that is my question for anyone who knows, what is the difference between the 1000 on jjos2 and a 2000?

   The JJOS gives added functions such as time stretching and pitch shifting, and an easier to use trim page as far as I can remember. All I know is that I changed to JJOS a couple of days after I got my 1000 and haven't looked back.
   
   I'm not sure why you would want to swap a 1000 for a 2000 though? Some people will say you get a better sound although I can't really comment on this as I haven't done a straight comparison. All I will say is that I own and use a 1000, and have used a 2000, and I wasn't immediately blown away by a difference in sound quality. The 1000 is small and looks a bit like a toy in comparison, but that's the only real difference.
   
   And the 1000 is way more practical. You can hook it up to your computer if you want to transfer samples backwards and forwards, and you can store a good amount of audio on a memory card. Whereas on a floppy, you get about 4mb max??? That's probably enough samples for one track, per floppy.
   
   But dudes have been doing it with floppy disks for a long time, so depends how dedicated you are, and if you think the 2000 will sound/function better than a 1000.

   the only problem with loading samples and what not with a 2k is that you need a SCSI input and a zip drive, which inmy opinion if you're going to be using a 2k, is the way to go, but with the 1k you can get memory upgrades up the ass and JJOS is the sh!t...I have a 112gig hard disk upgrade on my 1k, jjos 4.0 and my sh!t is hard bro

   Can't you get Hard drives for 2000's?
   
   I have a 9.1gb Hard drive for my 2000XL and I'm not even half full.
