Hi
Was wondering if PUTS record on tape and if so which machine they use to record?
Also does the warm feel of analgue comes more from the tape or the pre-amps like the Neves or the TREE 500?

Posts: 7Posted 17 years ago #Man I thought they use analog tape but in one of there youtube vid i saw them using the alesis adats, But that don't mean that they didn't use analog,, eather in the final master Mix they did or they could have bounced it on 2 inch tape. I use 2 inch tape myself and its sooooo fat sounding,,. I know they use an analog mixing console, I don't know what make and model it is but its an old console. One good examp of that grungy sound is that sont they did "The outrage with the clavinet sample,,Still trying to find out what that sample is,,but that sample is very analogish sounding. but yeah they do use some form of analog in there,,plus the records are also analog>>> -

Starting off with cassette decks and pro-sumer equipment, his studio evolved over the years. At the point that it is featured in the book Behind The Beat, the photo shows an Adat-XT and an Allen & Heath GS3000 alongside his MPC-3000. This appears to be taken shortly after OST was completed. In 2004, shortly before his first feature in Remix Magazine, he acquired a Neve 5316 (Baby-V). In 2008 he commissioned Steve Firlotte of Inward Connections to build a custom console based on the API 500 series format. Thes One's original idea was to have a stripped down 500 series line input mixer, the console soon blossomed to an 86 slot 24x4x4 mixer. With Steve's design, Ian Gardeners physical design and Thes One advising and testing, the console later became the commercially available Tree Audio 500, though Thes One still owns and uses the protoype/001 serial number unit.
