Apologies if this has been thrown up before...
A year on and I'm still rockin' that fly-as-a-bird Fun DMC mix-tape promo Step Bacc remix like a mf! I can't get enough of it. Only problem is that the sound is really compressed. I guess it was compressed when they uploaded it, I compressed it to put the mix onto a CD and now I have it on minidsic to bounce to in my car, so it's been compressed again.
Does anybody know where I can get hold of a clean version of the remix on CD, vinyl or as a download?
Hit me up!
Ta.

Posted 17 years ago #I second getting a non-compressed version of the mixtape... Also, I don't want to seem like a purist, but I've always hated the bleep, so as long as we're making a wish list, can we get the remix with the swear words intact?
I've already chopped the mixtape up in tracks, so I can get to my favorite parts, but for the step bacc remix, I kept the album cut of Thes' verse and the remixed part as one unified track (from the guitar before the spoken intro all the way to the remix's fade out... so like 6 minutes)... I could've chopped it after the album cut and made it two seperate tracks, but it just seemed more dope as one long cut (even if Thes repeats the verse in the remix)... -
Posted 17 years ago #Does anyone know how to chop up the tracks in iTunes, or do you have to use a program like Audacity, which I don't want to do to avoid further compression. By the way, Thes if you're watching, I know this is supposed to be a like an OG mixtape, but I'm making a separated copy so i can listen to my favorite parts (No Nos Pararan, Step Bacc Remix) again and again without skipping half the song.

Posted 17 years ago #You can download the bad ass step bacc remix from dj day on his blog.
quality is very nice as he encoded mp3s @320kb
so you can get at least this track in good quality.

A program called CUE Splitter might be what you are after...

Yo JK,
i definitly agree! Dj Day is one of the most talented beatmakers out there.
he's superior to most other beatmakers on the musical level.
very gifted guy in my opinion.
i think he is from california and seems to be a friend of the puts.
he will be in amsterdam on 17th july, so i am going to spend a weekend in the neatherlands with my girl to see day rock the spot.
make sure to check out all the stuff on his blog. he puts tons of remixes and beats up on the regular and they are all dope as hell. -
