Due to this line I hardly ever drink Coors now, but my intake of Miller has increased.

Posts: 584Posted 16 years ago #One thing i they have made me do is ALWAYS compare new hip hop or even old hip hop to there tunes and the consistant output. I was a massive Tribe Called Quest Fan and i guess i still am but in my humble opinion 3-4 of there albums were great and could be termed classic and then it all went wrong for the last 1. So what have PUTS done....well basically give me a benchmark that from now till the end of time i will use for any new CD's that go in the player. -

Posts: 594Posted 16 years ago #word up, im sad to say i was a hip hop hater before, but the P changed all that. they showed me that hip hop is dope, and pop rap is, well.. pop rap. thanks to them i also got into digging, and that in itself opens a whole new world (aladdin style). thanks thes and double, you really have no idea how much your music has changed my life -

thanx to tha p my fridays r a lil less stressful. i rock tha p every friday at work. put on my headset, and just melt into the sounds. of course, i get way less work dun, but f tha man.

Well, as an example of the P Effect:
Because of the line above, I just picked up The San Francisco Concert LP today on my lunch break at The Beat in Sacramento (saw it sitting in a used bin with Afro-Classic, Crying Song, Rite of Spring, Morning Star, and At Carnegie Hall... didn't have the dough to get them all, and I already have In The Beginning).
The record cover is FCUKED up, but the record's in perfect shape. Time to go home and listen to it and see what Thes was talking about...
I actually didn't know that Hubert Laws played on Gil Scott-Heron's "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" 'til I looked it up today... already knew about Harvey Mason from Head Hunters, though, and Bob Clark... well, he's Bob Clark. Damn I love music. -

I always listen to the P, but sometimes things move a bit to the background, because other dope sh!t gets released and some other dope stuff requires a listen

My whole life, I've noticed that, when I get stuck on a musical artist, they shuffle to the forefront of my "life soundtrack." Sure, I listen to other music all the time, but most of it is the artist I'm into at that particular moment.
Right now, I have been sorta overdoing it on the P, but it's working for me. Like thinking up that crazy PUTS commercial idea I posted in another thread, or working on the lyrics (I've started on Question, BTW). But nothing beats listening to "Carried Away" or "LA Song (Sensitive Mix)" when I'm coming into work in the cold morning, or blasting "Trippin' At The Disco" or one of the "Step" tracks when I break out of the office to enjoy my evening.
I had some cats ask me about "Shoot Your Shot" when I was blasting it the other day on the b-ball court.
