Posted 21 years ago #yeah rappcats dope video (RIP Charizma on that)
I got Stones Throw DVD, the green puppet video, the Rhinestone Cowboy (!) and the 'secret' video (in the bottom right of the extras area I think) are super dope. One video on there (with all the women in) is too weird for me though :-? -
Posted 21 years ago #I really can't say much about Madlib except that he keeps a ninja on his toes; Madvillainy was the hotness, Lord Quas has been that hotness (I need to check the new one), and Blunted in the Bomb Shelter reaffirmed the hip-hop/dub theory I rediscovered during the summer of 2004. All the same, a lot of his stuff can vary in terms of sound, but I think thats just production nature for a cat who's more retracted than the claws of a cat.

Jaylib too man... what's that about? I get confused
Jay Dee, Madlib, splendid combo, especially in Red. The name thing will just keep folks guessin, which is the best trick a magician can pull.[/i] -

Posted 21 years ago #Has anybody peeped a copy of DJ Rels album on Stones Throw? I saw it on Sandbox's site with Madlib's name next to it, and I'm never convinced by there clip choices; so if anybody knows whether this is seriously worth peeping, lemme know.
Paz y Salud a todos -
Posted 21 years ago #Maybe madlib can get Kanya West to make his beats, i think he only charges $500,000 a track.
I Hate Kanya West -
Posted 21 years ago #Well my take on this is that if u liked every damn thang that he makes he isn't being creative, or as creative as possible. Thats what makes him so dope, he comes with new style & flavor almost all the time...so I guess in like 5 or 10 years peeps will b down with the soup du jour.
Just my thoughts

Posted 21 years ago #things been in my car stereo player since i got it, i think ive listened to it about 20 times fully, and other songs more, it may be hard to swallow for some but the production on this blows my mind almost as much as the P can ...
some stand out songs for myself:
Bus Ride is a tight track
Closer feat Madvillian is RAW,
Civilization Day, nice bass break
Raw Deal is bangin
Fatbacks! " I like my asses fat not flat"
J.A.N.S. is a nice one
of coarse Rappcats Pt3, killin it again
Raw Addict, nice loop/diggin song -

Posted 21 years ago #I wouldnt judge without a listen, But, if your not imagining The Fantastic Planet while you listen to quas, i dont think you can understand the musical vision and the alter ego he has created.

Posted 21 years ago #That new Quasimoto is that dopeness, starting where Unseen left off at. I liked it so much I stopped downloading it three tracks through and opted to just buy it (I hate burning discs that are mixed seamlessly, Blunted in the Bombshelter just lacks the charm with those damnedable pauses). It's 25+ tracks, and if you liked The Unseen then you will be very content with Further Adventures.

Take it how you want it, but I can understand not getting into Quas all that much. It's definetly not the greatest thing to happen to hip-hop, and lyrical content can vary widely depending on what track it's at, but 9 times out of 10 I'm content with just the beats and the general humor that can be found from time to time in that high-pitch niche-market skill keeps it in regular rotation. -
