Yeah, I think your'e right about us sometimes sounding like grumpy old men. I'm 34, and I feel like a grumpy old man on the hip hop porch yelling at the whippersnappers passing by to keep off the grass.

Don't get me wrong, I do feel this game can be very positive for hip hop. I can already imagine a lot of kids out there being confronted with some of the dope artists on the game for the first time and in turn realizing there's more to hip hop than what they previously thought. So, that's good.

I wasn't able to afford my first mixer and turntables till I was 30! So, I have no problem with people buying Hero; it's economic. I remember as a kid getting the 'Hero' of my childhood; the Casio Rapman.
See the little turntable on the right. Haha, I still have it in storage.

i have a pair of 1210's in my living room and use them all of the time dropping some dopeness. i have been a big fan of "underground" Hip Hop since i was 10 (i am now 32) but i went and brought myself a copy of DJ hero.....do i like all of music on there....no way....do i think it shows a fair and "real" representation of mixing...no way.....do i find the game fun and a distraction from the real word....yes...yes i do. Maybe we all shouldn't play COD etc....maybe we should just all go and join the army....what do you think?

Rapman to the Rescue! & I hope your right on the positive aspects of the DJ Hero freshkest, because this DJ Hero deal has got exploitation of the genre written all over it.

IIDX beatmania is the game that DJ Hero ripped off (just like guitar hero ripped of guitar freaks and rock band ripped off drum mania+keyboardmania+guitarfreaks combo gaming)

I love love LOVE Rock Band, it's a lot of fun to play drunk with your friends. No, it can't compare to being in a band but I'm too grown to start a band out of my garage. I missed that boat completely.

But DJ Hero... it just doesn't seem that fun to me. It's a solitary experience, unlike Rock Band. And at least with Rock Band it's SIMILAR to playing an instrument... what f***ing turntable has BUTTONS on it?

However if PUTS had some downloadable content I'd buy this sh!t in a heartbeat.

I like your application of the "evil will flourish when good men do nothing" proverb man, good point. Well, i'll always be rocking the vinyl, and always spitting blood every time i see someone "dj" off ipods, so even if it's just me and a couple of like minded mates doing it, yes i'll keep on fighting. But I feel more and more, in my country anyways, that hip hop, i'm talking about REAL hip hop, conscious, intelligent, decent hip hop, is become more and more of a rarity. I mean the majority of the sh!t i listen to is from 10 years ago! Like thes and KK say on their radio interview, there's nothing out there right now that sticks out really... shame... but on the other hand, there'll always be people like us striving to keep it alive, so that makes me feel better...

thought this wud b as gud a place as any to post this, u cin those pacemaker ipod things? basically an mp3 player that allows u to "DJ" on the move? i was considering buying, just because i go to alot of housepartys, often without decks, and its a bit of fun. anyone cin these? whot u think?

Finally played DJ Hero and even though I hated it going into it I ended up loving it. You can play 2 player with 2 dj controllers or 2 player with 1 guitar and dj controller. The songs are bad ass and a lot have artists or songs that we would all listen to.

Its an art... turntables are instruments not to be made in to some game where kids are going to think they are the next DJ Skully not that they know who that is.

Its meant to be an individual being orginal not 1000s kids cutting up Jay Z.

Did anyone see the Gadget Show (Channel 5 UK) last week I think.

They did gadgets for boys for christmas.

Suzie and the cool bald guy both choose a gadget...

one choose dj hero and the other choose one of those digital books.

Then they had a dance crew (from britians got talent maybe?) and they had a play with each gadget.

The crew then voted for their favourite...
Breakdance to vote for dj hero.
Body pop to vote for the digital book.

They all body popped.

On a related note I was doing a search for DJ Gero (A french dj who is in the 2003 world dmc final) and google came up with a load of sh!t... did you mean dj hero, did you mean dj hero playlist, did you mean dj hero arse etc.

No I meant DJ Gero!!!
