Yeah man, they've shut down now. Sorely missed. I used to be in a crew from luff called rhyme alliance. Had links with some dudes from notts.
I used to be down with msd from notts, blue eyes from Derbyshire and mink from sheff.
Notts had a good scene in the late 80's. Rock city had p.e., ll cool j, cold chillin crew, mantronix, schoolly d, cypress hill, sh!t loads of people. Leicester had run dmc and that's about it.
We had a nice jazz funk scene going on which is how i got to support Gil Scott. Happy days.

Kids nowadays,....bah, no respect for the old timers. All banging on about freestyle battles and how fast they can rap...bah.

First track I heard was 'time to rock our s**t', back in about 06, decided to check out more, next track I heard was 'earth travelers' and that was it, I was the P for life. Got my hands on everything else up to that point (Stepfather) and didnt listen to anything else than the P for like a year straight.

In 2006 when I was a freshman in college I was hanging out for one of the first times with one of my best friends, and we were on a surf trip to santa cruz. When we were driving through san francisco we were blazing some chron and he played this little ditty called 'acid raindrops'. I was super blazed and that song just hit the spot for me, and I was hooked. Time to rock our sh!t and sf knights were also early favorites.

the first song I ever heard from the P was Outrun. my drunk friend put a PUTS CD in my car and it was the first song he skipped too.

hooked ever since.

I bought a used* copy of Question in early '04 without having heard anything from them previously, so I guess it would be the Intro from that. Obviously it left me a little confused at the time, but Crazy Live followed so it was all good, haha.

* - Don't judge, I was buying a lot of CDs at the time having gotten into good hip-hop less than a year prior and their early albums were like $16-17 which is pretty steep for a blind purchase (also I was in high school so not exactly rolling around in cash.) Think I got the used one for $7.

Same here, disiskurt. Except I was experimenting in underground rap quite extensively in 2000 and copped QITFOAA based on some sh!t I read about the P. Sandboxautomatic.com was the spot I was doing most of my online shopping back in the day.

in 2004 my friend brought a streetball mixtape called "Notic 2" which was a lot like And 1 mixtapes but they were from Canada and they were much more entertaining than and 1 dudes. So "San Francisco Knights" played during the tape and I was already blown away by the soundtrack of this thing, and I KAZAA'ed everything.

'Anotha BBQ' when my brother played it while driving us to high school back about right around Fun DMC came out. its the summer jam every year and what my bro and i smoke too every time haha. a big reason why this is my fav album of the P

The Next Step II on Tony Hawks Underground not really knowing it was PUTS. That had a great Hip-Hop soundtrack BTW. When I discovered PUTS properly, the first song I heard was "The Wiz."

Like you, I want to say I've also heard PUTS tracks loosely, not knowing until legitimately discovering who they were via "Acid Raindrops", what many true P fans would consider a cliche classic. Sidenote: Hawk game series always carried legit Hip-Hop, but never enough. Didn't get around playing Underground much. Anyhow, love "Acid Raindrops.", but I've moved on to further classics of theirs!

First album I ever explored of theirs was O.S.T., and I loved a few select tracks off of their album, but it took me a minute to get into P.U.T.S. I was just stuck on Acid Raindrops as many mere fans of theirs are. It wasn't until I heard tracks sporadically such as "Earth Travelers" that started reeling me in more. Questions in the Form of an Answer appealed to me more than O.S.T., and that's when I told myself I need not to sleep on them. Once I seen them for the 1st time performing live at L.A.C.M.A. (L.A.), that was when I was sold to become a devoted fan, and have tried to explore every album since. Anyhow, "Earth Travelers," bump it any day, esp. when cruising on my bike on a chill late afternoon/evening.

since I heard 'Fun DMC' first, I really got into the P post 'Stepfather' era, so I have a special fondness for DMC and 'Carried Away' the two albums I listen to the most. I was hooked on these cats at this point so I kept listening and getting to know the music. So since I've acquired all of the P's music, I've explored and always kept finding a better and better song and going back and forth between which album is their best. I tend to listen to two albums at a time, and cycle thru and keep enjoying! in a history of hip hop class we discussed some tracks off 'O.S.T.' and it made me understand and love the album even more, so many classics!

OneNationUnderaGroov, bikin with the P is pure bliss! my ridin song is 'The Joyride.' always the first track I put on my headphones.

I've grown to appreciate the OST album. I took a Hip-Hop course this last semester, and never did we touch on The P. They're underrated. Your teacher knew what's up :) In all truth, I've yet to explore through Thes' or KK's solo work. Their PL70 site has helped me discover a unique collective of artists. A neat project that Thes has put on. Will touch on all of that. Right now, been bumping their earlier work lately: Next Step, and Question In the Form of An Answer. I enjoyed 12SP for several months since its release, so I've been taking a bit of a break. Been dabbing back into OST here and there. Besides those albums I mentioned, I don't own the rest in its entirety :( Nonetheless, FUN DMC is the sh!t! Perused through the Orig. Samples thread, and have been listening to Pure Pleasure - "By My Side" sampled in the "Swan Fever" track. Lovin' it, bro

I've recently bought o.s.t. on cd (I only had a cd copy before) and have been bumping it in my car on a daily basis.
I can't get past track 10 though. It gets to the Double K show and I just keep pressing back. *it's not turntablism*. Awesome track.
