Yeah Ratpack are the old skool masters "I was standing in corner, I was searchin' for my rizla..."
Seen them at a few raves... always gotta check the old skool room just like a big party. Was once in the old skool room in Westfest 05 and there was some bloke dressed as an old woman at the back of the room snorting coke off his handbag hahaha.
Wicked, that sound system is something else.
Its strange it doesnt sound loud loud it sounds loud good.
Then you get that wall of bass
That is some experience.
You need to hear Fresh - "signal" or pretty much anything by Dillinja on it.
Dont forget to get some ear plugs!!
And have a dope time!
Peace. -
Posted 16 years ago #Ok, so im bridging a couple genres of music. But i go to this music fest in Live Oak, Florida every year...called Wanee.
(The link below is to the "mushroom stage" , as it is called...which is an amphitheater in the woods ....trippy lighting, etc...overall one of the greatest venues ive ever seen....if PUTS ever played there ...i would straight up take a sh!t on my living room floor out of excitement!!)
http://images.jambase.com/festivals/wanee/2009_Saba/17_1.jpg
It is held at the Spirit of the Suwanee music park (musicliveshere.com), which is truly a magical place. I would recommend this festival to anyone...it is somehwat smaller that bigger fests like coachella, bonaroo, etc ...which provides a more laid back camping/music experience.
this fest is basically a "family reunion" of sorts for the Allman Brothers Band...as well as other artists...which include some other varieties of music..(dj's etc)
so, with that little bit of background...here is a DREAM line-up...sorry if i forget something .....and thes....seriously look into playing here!!!!
-PUTS (mushroom stage -headline)
_Allman Bros (peace stage headline)
-Derek Trucks Band
-Primus
-Common
-Tribe
-Ugly Duckling
-Aesop
-Robert Randolph
-Tupac (it is a "dream")
-Bob marley and the wailers - performing exodus in its entirety at 3 am at the mushroom stage)
-Beatnuts
-Alibi
-Blackalicious
-Dilated Peoples
Another awesome thing about this festival...is there is a disc golf course on location! Im a big time "frolf-er"...anyone else into that? -
Posted 16 years ago #that festival looks freakin sick.... i want to go to something like that, we have secret garden soundsystem, thas always pretty dreamey n tripped out. Lineup sounds gud... i think after a week we should have a fantasy poll, c whos lineup is the most popuar? lol. what ya say? bit of fun.

Posted 16 years ago #I've often had very elaborate talks with my friends on this very subject. I think I have beyond eclectic tastes so here's how my lineup would look.
Overall Headliner: People Under the Stairs
Mainstage:
Bruce Springsteen (yeah I'm a boss fan. He's great!)
Mighty Mighty Bosstones (I got a lot of love for ska)
M.O.P. (Ante Up!)
Redman & Method Man (they are great in concert)
Side stage
-The Roots
-Ahmad Jamal (jazz)
-Foo Fighters
-Cam'ron & a Reunited Diplomats (I might be the only P.U.T.S. & Dipset fan, but it's cool)
-Oneside -
Posted 16 years ago #King Tee and the Likwits So many hits here. I'd probably want this one to start out with Black Togetha Again or Dippin' or At Your Own Risk. Then you could dig into Lik songs.
DJ Quik and AMG. I dunno why more people aren't on AMG, Bitch Betta Have My Money and Ballin' Outta Control a lot. Gotta start with Tonite off Quik is the Name. Then Quik could basically do any song off of any of his albums, 'cause they were generally real dope.
The Beatnuts kick it off with Reign of the Tec. Just all of Intoxicated Demons. Can't f*** with No Equal. You'd have to throw in some other joints off of other albums like Get Funky, etc.
Then Ice Cube and Del hit the stage, Ice Cube does It Was a Good Day, then Del does Catch a Bad One. They ping pong back and forth. The Predator and No Need For Alarm sound good together.
I'd have the headliner be Big Daddy Kane dude could rock a mic with the best of them and has a deeper/better catalog of songs than other mic legends like Kool G. Rap and he didn't go crazy and start releasing a bunch of wack sh!t like Rakim. He fell off for sure, but he didn't stain his legacy like Rakim did. -

Sounds sweet mate, i quitle like my ska, bit of madness could be good.

got some good ideas here.

I wouldn't have a mainstage, but rather have 9 artists appearing in this order before the headliner.
1. People Under the Stairs (I'd have them open up simply cause they would be the youngest of the performers)
2. Freestyle Fellowship
3. Hieroglyphics
4. Gang Starr
5. Slick Rick with his DJ Vance Wright
6. Stetsasonic
7. Public Enemy
8. Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five
9. Run DMC
...and headlining ...MICHAEL JACKSONI'd also have a B-boy Battle between the LA City Breakers and the Rocksteady Crew on the dancefloor just like in Beat Street (minus the New York City Breakers).
...and a guest appearance from Michael Jordan, walking around meeting and greeting the fans while dribbling a basketball.
...and yes, I would also have gogo dancers from Japan. -

That's an excellent insight into Big Daddy Kane and Rakim. Good thinking.
Lately I've been feeling that KRS is walking on the same thin ice that Rakim fell through.
I know they still have to have it in them. I just don't understand why they won't let it out again.Mambo - This was a good game idea. Jurassic 5 is dope live. Saw them twice while they were still together, and they were absolutely amazing. Queen though, I'd have to leave the mainstage and go on a bathroom break or go check out some other act on one of the sidestages.
