So, sort of a random question, but what is yall favorite artist/painting/artwork.. doesn't have to be just paintings, it could be sculptures or drawings or whatever. I am just curious to see what your interested in. Maybe post a picture:)

My favorite artist at the moment is Gustav Klimt.. and my favorite painting by him is "The Kiss." I have it in my room and I dont know what it is, no one seems to get it but I am just obsessed with it. I love the golds, the colors everything about it. I feel like it is just a passionate painting. I also love the difference in shapes to distinguish the man from the woman. I even painted a mask based on it.

I also love watercolor paintings.. I love abstract.. I love just interesting and colorful paintings. I took beginning art my senior year in HS and got like 105% in that class because i just became OBSESSED with art and art history and everything about it.

that painting is great. Real personality to it. The greenery at the bottom reminds me of Seurat... you may know this painting, 'Bathers', probably his best known..

he painted everything using pointillism (aka little dots) so there's crazy detail close up but it blends from afar

China has some amazing artists at the moment. Very reactionary and powerful works. One of the most exhibitionist that I like is Li Wei

someone like Joseph Beuys is also really interesting to me. As an artists he had a crazy life that you can totally see through his work. He was in the Luftwaffe during WWII and was shot down over Ukraine. He was rescued by nomadic Tatars who allegedly wrapped him up in fat and fur.

Lucian Freud, David Shrigley, Anthony Gormley, Rachel Whiteread... all these dudes kill it on the regs. I'll have to think back to my art school days to post up some more ill sh!t.

love it alL! i love seeing new stuff I have never seen before. Opening your mind to art is an amazing thing.. There are just so many creative pieces and everything is so different!! ahh

lol. i feel like a numpty.

I just dont get art, not my cup of tea as it were...

bou the closest i get is graffiti, n even then the only artist i know (as does most of the world) is banksy although i do have a graffiti book with some dope pics in it, anyways, just so i can feel part of the conversation, heres one of my fave banksy bits....

That Dondi looks supurb, really well put together, fills the space nice, i really like that part 1in black and white.

Lol. Sorry, just a bit of inner jealousy....

Love that trolley hunters one tho. so would you class banksy as art? or just making a statment?

I'm going through a Dali phase at the moment. There's a really cool exhibition in Edinburgh about the surrealists, it's got a few awesome dali pics, I can't remember the names of any of them, so I can't post any pics (dumbass)

My favourite dali pic is this though:

And Margritte has some cool stuff too...

@ Mambo: To me, if i can see something in the piece and it evokes a thought or emotion, then it did it's job.. . so yes, I would classify Mr. B as an artist.

cool, the fact that banksys exhibit in bristol was the most popular thing to ever to hit the museum is a testament to the fact people like his stuff, and its definetly thought provoking and making a statment so if thats art then call me an art lover... lol.
