Ok. so i know this is a different type of topic, but since i have been hearing it get brought up SOOOOOO much by everyone. I wanted to see what my intelligent friends on the P boards have to say about all this.

If you haven't heard about it, lately people have been saying artists like Rihanna, Beyonce, Jayz, Lady gaga etc... believe in illuminati and are devil worshippers etc..

I am not religious by ANY means so i dont believe in the devil and god and this and that, but i still find this topic extremely interesting and since im not that "knowledgable" about religious stuff, illuminati, the eye and the pyramid.. etc.. if ANY of you want to drop some knowledge on me Id appreciate it.

to me i mean, whoever they worship is their own business, but are the worshipping? are they trying to get people to follow thme? or are they just trying to push the envelope and make people talk. I dont know but I am curious as to why all of a sudden all these artists are being accused of this. I also heard that artists like Aaliyah, tupac, MJ and such, died because someone killed them as a sacrifice to the devil..

so this website breaks down these artists videos and tries to explain what their lyrics "really" mean and what the visuals really mean. What do yall think? feel free to add any info you have.

if you type in any artist like "jay z devil worshipper" or whatever, this website will pop up, but you cant go into the message boards without being a member so i cant see what else they have but you can look at these!

If you are someone that is very religious, i respect it but please dont use this as a time to fill peoples heads with your beliefs. All this is meant for is to just see what other people think and why they may think that.

Wow, I thought we were better on this site, then talking about how Jay-z is a member of the illuminati. BTw that was everyones favorite conspiracy from three years ago so you might just wanna get with the times.

This sh!t is for the birds. I actually think there are very powerful hidden groups but people who think that they would prop up their messages through Rihannia are internet losers with too much time on their hands. Don't fall for that sh!t man.

huh? i never said i believed in any of it.. and no actually it is getting brought up a lot NOW.. i mean yea people brought it up years ago too, as videos were coming out and what not but lately its been a hotter topic. I am just curious that is all. I dont think you read my post correctly. I dont even believe in god so i dont believe in the devil either. just seeing other peoples thoughts on it... sssssso idk what kind of attitude ya have going but theres no reason for it :)

Personally, i beleieve that never mind the illuminati its Capitalism and Advertisers that really run the world and the goverments and are mearly a formality which occasionally gets in the way of business but which can be bought for the right price!

Although the Freemasons couldwell be that group, much more likely is a golfclub where the richest and most powerful meet up for a round of golf now and again and get "chatting" i dont think the evil bastards in this world know their evil bastards, they probs think their nice people just trying to get on with life...

Probs some old boys club, look at the inherent sexism and racism in the rich and powerful lists, awful lot of old white men wouldnt you agree? Just look round the Forbes website for a while and youll see what i mean...

I agree with Lock N Load - the illuminati/devil worshipping theory is a massive over-interpretation - there is no conspiracy to Jay-Z or Rihanna, just mass-market directed, corporation-backed stereotyped marketing.

I mean this persons articles that i posted are very interesting.. but i highly doubt Britney spears purposily put a "Blaphomet" or whatever his name is.. in her video. I am sure it has a lot to do with the producers and "higher" people.

Idk, i just thought it was interesting.. i mean when you watch the videos and you see their outfits and this and that, you do notice things more. But who cares.. I will listen to music if i like it, idc what the celebs believe in..

This sort of thing is a great example of something called apophenia. From wikipedia:

Conversely, does it really matter what people believe in if you like what they do? There are probably a lot of people you admire or respect who hold very contrasting views to your own.

Use your brain - it is too wonderful a thing to squander on thinking about such obviously silly things.

I never said i believed in it all. I just found it interesting and wanted to see what other people thought of it. I didn't piece any of this stuff together. someone else did. Is no one reading what i write? lol i feel like ya'll are misconstruing what im trying to say. My brain is definitely being used. just found the topic INTERESTING.

"Interesting", just like a lot of things, is a matter of opinion, so I think your question could get answered different ways by different people. "I could give a sh*t less" would be one response, apparently by a few people here on the boards, most definitely. Personally, I can discount this kind of thing too, and I lose "interest" pretty easily these days. But I think what boombip is saying (although I'd never want to be one to put words in someone's mouth, so boombip, feel free to rebuke) is that she, personally, has been hearing an INORDINATE amount of people entertaining this suggestion, almost as if everyone was actually talking about an Enquirer article about "Black Jesus weds three-headed alien clone" like it was something that could actually be real.

So... I think she just wants to know why it would even go this far... and my response would be that people (especially in the age of internet/tech) get bored as h*ll and will believe any pile of (dung) that gets shoved their way. It's sad, but true... and when you venture into the realm of pop music, you also are talking about teenagers and pre-teens with some hyper-active imaginations. not to mention that anti-intellectualism is as strong (in the U.S., at least) as it has ever been.

LOL sactown you always speak whats on my mind! that is what im saying. its not like i believe in it or think anything much of it.. it was just a topic i have been hearing SO much from friensd of mine lately that i just wanted to bring it up and see what some intelligent people thought of it and it didnt' really work so idk.

it's a bit like parents getting distressed with suggestions that Slipknot etc are devil-worshipping (or take it back to Ozzy biting allegedly off bats' heads back in the day)...

are Slipknot devil-worshippers? Probably not.

Are they very good at marketing themselves by playing up stereotypes? Yes.

The devil first entered American music with Elvis' gyrating nether-regions, and it was solidified by Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones playing all that darky "blues" music! Let's get back to good wholesome solemn white/European music... Hand me my Rammstein CD, wouldja?
