But yeah, when I heard that part of it, I was in shock too. What bugged me out, though, was that they gave all those OG Next Step vinyl pressings to that Mr. Bongo's place and then managed to sneak tobacco products (bidis) in to Tower in the spines of the OG Next Step CDs... love to get me one-a either of those releases... anyone still have the original CD with the bidi? Does it smell stale as f%*& now?

Hey I have one of the original cds with the joint in the spine. Also funnily enough I managed to pick up one of those original next step vinyl pressings from the very guy that used to work at mr bongos!
Cant wait for to get the instrumentals but shipping that crate to UK aint gonna be cheap. Maybe Thes can make it a flatpack 'self assembly' kit, ikea style for the international crew... lol

I have a really embarrassing story involving those... and i'm uber depressed now that i hear the story behind them
I had one of the original pressings with the beadie of the next step... one day in 10th grade a homie of mine and i were really high and we wanted to see if it was really weed or some crazy sh!t (the things you think of at 15 years old) ... anyways, i broke open the casing and we smoked the beadie... we didn't get high but we got buzzed off this leaf and almost threw up haha ... worst decision ever... but also a funny story... and i regret i got rid of that... but i still have the broken case and the booklet to prove it etc... thes and double even signed it at the last show

I remember getting a copy of American Men Volume 1 for free when I ordered OST from HipHopSite.com way back when. Not sure if that AMV1 was an OG copy or not. Regardless, it was stolen from my car along with my stereo a few years later.

Haha dude! Can you take a pic of that CD with the blunt? Would be cool to even see that. Man I'm so gonna meet up with you when I get to UK
And that self-assembly-kit idea is awesome since I too don't live in US.Oh and poor Kyle...what have you done..judging by the buzz..the beadie could contain Salvia

Cheers B, fascinating stuff from Thes.
Listening to him talk about touring the UK back in the day takes me back to summer 2000 when I chanced upon 'Question in the Form of an Answer' vinyl from a record shop called 'The Left Legged Pineapple' in Loughborough (sadly now an on-line only store).
I was only just properly getting into Hip Hop/Beats back then, and I'd never even heard of the P...and to this day I can't remember what made me buy the album...but what a call I made...it changed life forever...for the better.
For me, that LP will never be beaten...looking forward to part 2...

I always wondered about that "Oliver mark-ass t'Wang" line, I always thought he was referring to Mark Twain for some reason. It's funny how Thes said there was so much negative energy that went into the writing of O.S.T., when it comes across as such positive music. Does anybody know any other artists or people they call out on that record? Did Double and Thes really get threatened by those punks??

This is sooooo cool! THCx for the link B, some very personal info in there. Love hearing about the progression of Thes' production approach and all the stories behind the scenes. I think my head is gonna explode!
and the AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SHHHHHHITTTT! during Montego Slay @ the live shows is dope too! Gets everybody hyped as hell.

Can't wait for part two! It's so dope to have back stories to many of my favorite jams. Also the anthology set with the wood crate and hemp handle sounds f*ckin sweet. Hope that sees light.
