Back in high school, One of my buddy's cousins used to buy his own day pass and spend all day carrying a VHS-Beast camcorder just filming the rest of us.

Ive always skied and have been decent at that...and got way into longboarding over the past year...and am fairly confident in my abilities on that. Im like 6'3/6'4 and approx 220 lbs...what would you recommend for a first board? bindings/boots, etc? looking to get a solid setup here soon before the season.

So this is a great question and can vary quite a bit. I'm not so much a trickster lapping the park, rather a big mountain steeps type. Your a pretty big guy and the first thing I'd ask is your boot size. If your in the 13+ you are either going to need a very wide board(hard to turn, slow to initiate) or a set of risers for your bindings. Either direction will eliminate every big man's worst enemy... Toe/Heel drag. I'd say if you are more of a freestyle/jib type rider you'd probably want something very wide and in the 159-165cm range. If you like to spin, keep it on the short side but realize powder days aren't so sick! If you're like I am and prefer to rip the entire mountain(Freeride) Steep, Deep & all of the above then go with a normal width stiff board in the 165 - 170+cm range. You might need to equip binding risers depending on your boot size with this type of setup. As far as boots go, make sure that you actually try them on before buying them. I usually buy a half size smaller than my street shoe size in order to prevent slop when they break-in. Get whatever brand feels best on your foot, I've heard the Soloman boots are plush but wear out fast. On the Binding tip I'd say strap-in is a proven method that will not be replaced, just make sure you buy a set that has a toe-cap strap. The toe-cap strap has been one of the biggest revolutions to come out in the last little while besides Rocker or Reverse-Camber boards.
To kind of give you an idea Sweetness, I'm 5'11" 160lbs size 9.5 boot and I ride a 161cm up to a 172cm on really deep days. I'm not your typical rider though, I like 'em big! I have Burton Freestyle boots(a little softer) and Burton P1 bindings.
Pretty much any board on the market is going to be decent, but the brands I usually look out for are:
Boards
~Burton(make sure it's not too soft, it will wear out fast)
~Nitro (Oxygen is an off label that's pressed in the same Austrian factory as Nitro and are waaaaaay cheaper. I always look out for a good Oxygen)
~Santa Cruz
~Rossignol
~Salomon
~K2

Awesome guys! been there many times, they even have amazing rental set ups where u can rent burton board, bindings, boots for cheap, maybe rent a set up for the weekend and then buy something tweaked off of it
anyone recommend any awesome snowboard videos? i'd like to find a good urban snow video

Tons of rails and gaps that you'd never think to hit on a board, with some awesome big mountain runs as well. They started making vehicle powered tow-in setups so that they can hit flat run-ins... I was trippin' the first time I watched it, Peter Line is still mad man...
I always love the Burton videos, most recently The B! Jeremy Jones opening gap over the chainlink fence is right down the street from where I live. A lot of the urban jib's on The B are local SLC spots, peep!
If you like seeing epic Big Mountain steez then I'd DEF check out the last couple of Travis Rice vids... that dude is just plain crazy! The first one is called,"That's it That's all" and the newest just came which I have yet to see but have heard tons of good about is called "The Art of Flight".
