Thes even said in an interview that he respects what Mac has been able to do with hip hop. Even though im a die hard PUTS fan, u gotta give the dude props. Mac has attracted a new generation of younger cats to listen to his music, and thats positive for the hip hop community man... Even tho im not a fan of Mac, if he sells out shows weeks in advance, over 25k pre orders for his album, hes doing something right.

for me the beats aren't that good anymore how they used to be. i actually find most of the beats boring. i miss the timless melodic beats. i am actually a little bit dissapointed about it. i wish they would create those flawless, melodic beats again which in the beginning of listening to people under the stairs catched my ears. i wished they would go a little bit with the time and don't always stick to theire old school style.i mean of course they go with the time but for me right now they're moving to a strange direction. i'm sure somwhere in thes ones studio are a lot of crazy fat beats that would melt my ears, but they haven't found the way on a cd or so. i would love to hear those. maybe on the next album. i'm still interested what puts are doing in the future but for now unfortunatly they aren't in my music playlist. i know when you read this you must hate me. but i'm just writing what i feel. sorry about it. now you can kick my as

As far as the harder hitting beats and the house-shakers, I agree that there aren't as many "hooks" on this album and things to get the crowd involved and singing along, but I feel like I'm also okay with that. I've found that "single" material always follows the same pattern in my listening schedule: I bump it like crazy for a month or two, then it gets worn out, and it doesn't stay on rotation when I learn to appreciate the rest. Since this album doesn't have a "single" sounding track (I don't know though... Talkin' Back To The Streets and Too Much Birthday are memorable to me), I'm not burning out on anything, and it's all aging nicely on my playlists.
I don't know; I just feel like the true school/throwback/old school style is one item on a menu that's pages deep for hip-hop fans, and if you want to keep eating the same jazz-loop chicken nuggets with the cypher-diss fries and the crate-digger-Coke, then you do that, but I think Thes was looking to get gourmet on this latest one, and the blue-light special is a motha. Thes mentioned in a recent interview about how he was tired of hearing how great OST was, and it was time to move on. Well, we're hearing artists developing, and so far, they haven't really pulled a sound shift that's made them "jump the shark" yet.
You word everything PERFECTLY lol. I loveee this album. Exactly for the reason that its mellow and when i close my eyes it sort of takes me back to te 90s and thats the music i love the most. I am just SO relaxed when i hear this.. and its ok for artists (especially ones that are 8 albums deep) to change it up and not have all the head bobbin "singles" on their album and sh!t. I mean dont get me wrong I LOVEEEE their old stuff, I feel like some of their old stuff could never be touched, but i think this album is amazing and honestly I like it more than Carried away and Fun DMC. But all their stuff is good :)

+1... & Too Much Birthday also does a pretty d*mn good job... I've been yelling "AHHHHHHHHH SH*T!" so much lately, that I'd swear I'm starting to grow some G. Clinton dreadlocks.
LOL when it was my bday i kept singing this song in my head! happppppppy birthday to me! lol. And talkin' back to the streets is SUCH a good song. that song is like instilled into my brain ..idk what it is about that song but i just cant stop listening to it.
