Posted 20 years ago #I've finally loopholed myself into some deck money, but I'm not sure exactly sure what to look for. Some of the online package deals look tempting, but also pretty depressing at the same time. Anybody got some good advice for someone in my position, i.e. if I buy online, where to do it; and models I should be cautious of? I know this is a relative perspective thing, but at least I'd know, and knowing is half the battle!

Posted 20 years ago #Don't b uy anything other than 1200's or 1210's. They are the standard and the sooner you start using them, the easier it will be to go to any club in the world and rock (they will most likely have them as well)

Sound Clash At The Root Down front cover. It's a CD with will.i.am having a beat-battle with Thes. People on the forum still don't know who won, but it sounds like Thes did.
By the way Thes, who did win? -

Good looking out, Simon. Is this CD still available, or was it one of the many rare releases floating from Thunder Thumbs' collection? -
Posted 20 years ago #Proximo (or next for the english-speaking blokes); somebody give me the low-down on why I'd want a mixer with a kill switch over one without?
-
Posted 20 years ago #I bought that set of 1210's, the only downer on it is that the mixer dont have a power pack.... :-?

>I appreciate bringing it back up, but I ended up snagging that DM1002-X mkII to go along with my 1200 mk II's, and I like the basic theory it offers-, killing all the mids and highs and soloing out a dope bassline por ejemplo...the only thing I don't get now is the transformer button on my mixer, but my scratch level isn't even that high yet, so it's remained a mystery at this point in the game. Do the vestax mixers have more levels to further fine tune those mids and lows, or am I looking at most mixers having just the usual three knob job?
>Although shipping may be a bitch for you YoYo, check out 123dj.com, their deals on fresh technics tables are the best I've seen online. Got my entire setup for under $1200 US, and most technics prices online were around $900 US for the single table at some sites. Work with those prices and haggle if your going second hand though, and test them! I know from personal experience buying used must be tested; I bought my Technics 320 for something ungodly, and the right channel was dead, so just be warned. -
