Right on, let us know what you think! Albeit being released just a couple years ago those records are all-time favorites of mine. Sacred Dimension by Nat is the one that made me a jazzcat! I have also been playing these lately:

GoGo Penguin's v2.0 - pure Gondwana Records magic!

A Dutch ensemble adding a global feel to their jazz!

And this is the holy grail of my wish list, Glass Bead Games by Clifford Jordan. Its three or four pressings are in the Fun DMC price range so I'm hoping for a reissue. (Or a crazy digging miracle that involves Euro crates and a clueless record store clerk!)

word! Go Go penguin are a great new group.

I found a copy of Max Roach - Members Don't Get Weary (1968) last week. Been keeping an eye out for about 3 years for that!

And this too... nice CTI record from 67:

I picked up All Blues by Ron Carter the other day (great album!). Also on CTI, so of course I immediately noticed the yellow and reddish-brown center labels that The P used on their Om albums and the CTI logo that they use for their PUTS records stamp t-shirts and whatnot.

Anyone know what the story is behind this? Is it just a cool logo? Or does PUTS have some special connection to CTI?

they're big CTI fans... nuff said! I'm sure it's discussed in a few interviews out there.

You'll notice a fair few nods to classic album covers too:

That's awesome. Those covers and labels are all really cool. No wonder The P would want to use them. I'm gonna have to be on the lookout for more CTI sh!t. And some Neal Creque too.

Yup, they are! Do you know Mammal Hands, too? They are another great jazz trio from Britain. Their debut album Animalia (not available on vinyl … yet!) is sublime!

Sounds like an awesome find, congratulations! Never heard of Max Roach before but if I should stumble across a record I'll take it home! I assume you found it in a record store, right? Not going to mock online purchases, I'm just curious as I know the immense difference between ordering a sought-after LP on Discogs and all of a sudden holding it in your hands in a store.

Max Roach is a legendary jazz drummer. Pick him up!

I don't know if it was subliminal that I bought the Carlos Jobim record... I noticed the cover, checked the label, musicians, year and thought it would be good. Haha!

And turns out Thes must have the version with the green cover...

CTI seems to have some great covers in general. I'm really liking all the CTI releases I've heard so far actually. Don't think I've heard a label with such solidarity between artists and releases. I also got:

I keep listening for P samples. Haven't come across any yet. But they've got to be there, right!?!

Picked up Wave (red cover) yesterday and been listening to it all morning. It's great.

This thread is bringing back a lot of memories. I've got a ton of these in the record crates behind me. The Jobim is especially near and dear to me.

I actually made this... it was part of a series of fake PUTS covers I did just to mess around (I got through Fun DMC and then stopped. Need to finish!). I'll see if I can't find the thread again sometime.

Would love to see more covers. Can you post the ones you've done already?

Wave has probably been the album I've listened to most this year so far. So chill yet great for any occasion.

Been listening to A LOT of Jazz actually. My favorite's been Art Blakey, but then also any of the solo sh!t by The Jazz Messengers - Hank Mobley, Kenny Dorham, Curtis Fuller, Lee Morgan, Benny Golson, Horace Silver. And also a lot of Blue Note stuff with all the reissues coming out - The Three Sounds, Joe Henderson, Grant Green, Kenny Drew...etc. And of course the obligatory John Coltrain, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Oscar Peterson.

Still Bumpin' a ton of CTI too.

I'll post some songs later. Anybody got some good recommendations?

As we know, music is such a personal thing! But, some recommendations if I may.

Art Pepper the best alto player ever (big claim I know but I reckon he's better than bird)
Albums to check.would be....meets the rhythm section, smack up and the way it was are stand out albums for me.

Medeski, Martin and Wood are LARGE, end of the world party, shack man, out louder and the dropper are all good albums

Charlie Hunter is a dope guitarist who played with the Disposable Heroes of Hh way back. Worthbchecking out.

Currently playing Lou Donaldson and Dexter Gordon a fair bit.

If you like Kenny Drew, check out Recollections. Beautiful album.

There's obvious talents like Herbicides, Miles, Mingus, Brubeck etc

Lee Morgan, Lester Young, Sonny Rollins, Jimmy Smith, Mjq, Oscars Peterson , Stanley Turrentine are a worth checking for.

Man I could go on for hours. Its all subjective of course, but there's some nice music there!!
