Been using a digital 8 track for me/my groups last two albums. Sounded good and all, but the music I create isn't made to be recorded digitally. I need that Warm analog sound. Wondering if you guys had any suggestions as to what Analog Multitrack Recorders Sound good and arn't to expensive. Any help would be appreciated!

Posts: 8Posted 20 years ago #i know what you mean with the 'sounds too digital' dilemma - i sometimes have the same problem. tascam and fostex both make 8 and 16 track tape machines that you can find reasonably priced on ebay etc but finding one in good condition + availability of tape can be a problem and/or very expensive...
i try to keep things as analogue as possible BEFORE going to digital - ie. recording drums, samples, vox etc to cassette or vcr tape then to dig workstation computer etc. if the tape and machine you use is decent and the digital is high quality you can get really good results.

Posts: 2Posted 20 years ago #Thanks Yall. I'm glad u like the beats. I bought a Tascam 688 for like $300 on ebay. It's an old cassette multi-track, but I can out to some thicker tape maybe in the future, when I get some cash. Been making beats latly, so I havn't recorded to much on it, but when I have it has sounded much iller than digi cause I can finally peak my beats past the red zone. Beats & Vocals stick things together more too.
Boneunit, yeah man I'm everywere. I do .com data entry work like 10/12 hours a day, They slave my ass, and all I can think about when I'm here at work is beats...so thats when I come to the forums.
