i dont have a bad ass mixer, or bad ass decks. Scratch with the left, and shuffle on the right. when i cross over to the right, and reverse record, it doesnt cut the sound, and i can hear it reversing, and it really screws up the sound i try to achieve, and practice. Ive taken the fader out, made sure it was secure and all, stillsame sh!t. Its not cutting the sound all the time, and its staticy too. not even a clean backwards noise.
Any ideas? or do i need to fill out the damn warranty.

It's the cheapest way around the problem and all you have to do is unscrew the old fader and screw the new one.

gemini pmx-350, that i got with my 2 gemini decks. Im not into making music right now, just like to listen to old wax, find cool stuff, and work on scratch, so I think its a good set for a music lover of my status,as long as it plays, eh? I didnt want to spend a bundle for something thats just for personal use, im not dj'ing parties or anything -

Posts: 524Posted 20 years ago #Don't worry back in 01 I started off with two Next!(stanton sister brand) Belt Drive Turntables and a Next! Mixer, I went through 3 faders on that mixer before I copped my 05 in 02. By the time I switched to Technics(a few months after I got my 05) I had developed an extremely light hand(to lessen the skipping on belt drives) and could crab and transform decently. Basically I think it is a smart idea to start off on cheap gear for at least two reasons. It helps you develop you're skills harder and makes you appreciate good gear that much more. Plus if you end up not wanting to jump to pro gear and lose interest, you won't regret it all that much. -

I dont think ill ever get sick of this, and i can see myself in the future buying some kind of drum machine or a sampler, but for now these are doing me great, although i wish i had a sampler right now, or at least an owners manual

Posts: 334Posted 20 years ago #Sometimes that means you need to clean your crossfader. just go to a store that specailizes in dj equipment and ask for a cleaning agent for your crossfader. Clean it up and its good as new. one way to know you need a cleaning is if the fader is not as smooth riding as when you first bought it. Thats a whole lot cheaper than buying a new crossfader.
P.S.
Don't be embaresed about the Dj set up I've been doin' this suff since 2000 and I still have the NuMark battle pack with a numark 1050 mixer. -

usually its dust - but on that mixer its probably your fader, pmx series faders dont last (biggest complaint ... but after all the mixer is not meant for ANY scratch use), saying that back in the day when gemini did the UMX series (dont know if they still do) the faders where crap and started to bleed after around 2 months of use.
You should try get a vestax/rane - i had my vestax 06 for 2 years and my faders havent gone yet, i practise atleast an hour everyday. -

I couldn't find much in the way of testimonials, but i needed to buy a replacement fader for my 06. It was only 20 bucks more than the vestax fader and it has some cool features (you can tweak the torque and change the cut-in point) http://www.turntablelab.com/vinyl/217/451/11882.html
