Okay I gotta say something about what I saw on Monday at School.
I go to Full Sail in Orlando and...well I've got mixed feelings about the school but anyway a local artist named Divinci came and performed for our MIDI class and wow.
The setup was this Divinci rocked two Akai MPC2000xl's and a Kaos effect pad.
He also had a cat playing stand up bass.
The first thing he did was a intro routine he does for his live shows, it was about 8 minutes long, and very dope.
Then he jammed with the bassist for about 30 minutes and omg...it was insane. I've never seen anything quite like it. I've seen a handful of hiphop shows and DJ's battles, even witnessed a set by Babu and this topped them all. The things this cat does with the mpc are crazy, he can tap 32nd notes out on a 100BPM beat consistently...
Then he showed how he took a snippet of a snare drum, edited it live and used some reverb via the Kaos pad turned the damn thing into a synth sound and played out a melody. Then using white noise he edited that sample and played the Star Spangled banner making it sound damn near like Hendrix's rendition. The he plugged a wah pedal up to it and using the white noise made that this sound like a dj doing flares and transforms..
It was nuts.
Then this guy gave some background info about his life and stuff and dood is real deep man, on some non-bullshizzle philosophical tip. And he's only 23. This guy is gonna blow up, I thought Shadow was dope with an mpc..naw G..naw.
The way him and that bassist worked together was insane...I'm shook man..shook.

) so I couldn't cop a cd. But he admits it himself his live work is so much better than his studio production. And he's never recorded his live stuff onto an audio format, his reason? He said it probably wouldn't touch his other live work knowing it would be recorded.
I can't find his website address but I am lookin for it...
The bass player is a backup bassist in Sam Rivers(jazz legend) band here in Orlando. Orlando to me just got a lot doper yo.
