Whats you preference?
I remember reading an interview with Kool Keith in which he believed that hip hop music should constantly be looking towards the future and continuing to advance whereas PUTS believe that best stuff was always the old stuff and then you have people like Edan mixing both in.
Whats your view?
In my opinion both are good, although you have great records like deltron 3030 and I Phantom and Take Me To Your Leader, you can't beat the greats of 1987-88

Posts: 4Posted 20 years ago #for me... its not that clear cut - i like good beats and breaks - if theres quality lyrics with it - well thats all good - but at the same time the lyrics can be amazing on there own -- look at organized konfusion's "stray bullets" for lyrics that tottally blow my mind (PUTS pull it off with both for me with stuff like acid rain etc) i like the RJD2 stuff - but id say that has its feet firmly in oldschool holding the newschool round the throat - Robswift, jaylibb,DangerDoom, DJ format and ATD all make an apearance on my iTunes on a daily basis as well, along with Firstrate and Qbert - all of which seems to transend the difrent styles...
in short i cant define weather i like new or old - im just looking for a beat i can get with and vocals that mean something - though the vocals dont always have to be there.
if i dont make sense im sorry - im 3 quaters of the way through a 15 hour shift and the coffee machine broke down at hour 2 -
