Hey man,
What's up? I would like to personally say thanks for making some amazing hip-hop! You guys really rejuvinated my love for hip-hop. I saw you guys live for the first time @ the knitting factory in Los Angeles almost a year ago and have been waiting for another live show! I can't wait to see PUTS live @ the troubadour! That's my favorite venue.
So on to my question. I noticed you said you are Peruvian in "The Breakdown" and I couldn't be any happier! Both of my parents are from Peru. They are from Ica, Peru. My parents and especially me think it's great someone from Peru is doing something so amazing and proud to represent where they are from. I just wanted to know what part of Peru are you from? I'm going there this summer to visit some family from my Pops side of the family. Sorry for the lengthy. Thanks! See you @ the Troub. on the 22nd!

Posted 21 years ago #Damn! That's dope.. I have never been to Ica but at some point I plan to check it out.
Let your fam know that My family has its roots in Mollendo, a port village directly west of Arequipa. Actually my Grandfather was born just outside of Arequipa, but they ended up in Mollendo while my Dad was growing up and then after he left for America they moved to Lima. If you are familiar with Lima, I spent about a good part of my life at my Fam's house there, in SurCo, circa hospital Neoplasicas, between Ave. Aviacion and Ave. Caminos Del Inca. I recently got married in Lima (March 2004) as well. I definately try to keep my hip hop tempered with my peruvian culture; whether i am sampling peruvian records (Code Check, OST, 43 labels) or givin' shouts out like the one you mentioned, I always try to put it down for my family and my country. Have fun this summer...wish I could go. :-? Also the guys who run ListenClothing are Peruvian as well so make sure to support...They make dope clothing and are great dudes. http://www.listenclothing.com
Thanks for the support

Posted 21 years ago #That's cool man! I checked out listen clothing! They have some dope designs. I gotta pick up a few shirts soon. I'm not too familiar w. Peru because I haven't been there since I was about 6-7 and now I'm almost 21 (in may). I can't wait to go though I definately have a lot of catching up to do with my roots. But I've always been proud of my country! Glad to see you represent! i'm gonna pass the word to my parents, I know my pops would know because he used to go to a lot of places when he lived there. I forgot to mention that I love plantains and lomo saltado too. My parents make it from time to time. There is also this restaurant in LA called Don Felix, and it's a great Peruvian resturant they have a few locations but the one I know is off of Sunset and Virgil, kinda behind the childrens hospital los angeles (where my parents work). They make some dope lomo saltado, lomo saltado with pasta, and various Peruvian meals. Check it out if you haven't! I can get you address if you want. Peace.
